I recently procured a 5mg vial of LSD. What would be the best way to store this for long periods of time?

Usual protocol, in the fridge or freezer away from light. Also if you plan on dosing/giving out doses often add a couple drops onto some gummies or blotter so your not constantly freezing and re-thawing your vial. Tbh I've had blotters stored at room temp for many months with little to no drop in potency. LSD, while not the most stable chem, is more durable than many think.

I'd keep it out of the freezer, precipitate and defrosting will be a bitch. The fridge would be much better, IMO.



Liquid is much different from blotter however, potency will noticable degrade over time although you should be able to get at least a year or two out of the vial if you take care of it correctly. I just kept mine wrapped in foil and in a desk drawer and it was still [I-]plenty-[/I] potent by the time I got around to washing it at the end.

If you put it in the freezer for a year and don't touch it, not much. Same if it's in stable environment out of the freezer. But if you're accessing the container all the time, opening and closing etc, it could degrade a noticeable amount in a year.
Like others have said, your best option is preparing some individual doses for the short-term and then preparing the rest for long-term storage (either in a freezer or stable/cool/dark, whichever your living situation supports).

Why is that anyway? I saw this picture of an drop of old LSD next to drop of new LSD under black light on erowid and there was definitely a big difference

People have reported taking really old blotters and not noticing any difference. Why does liquid degrade quicker? Maybe if people dosed candy it would last longer because solution evaporates and that's what is degrading it?

Very carefully vacuum seal it with a foodsaver bag, then seal again, don't break the vial, wrap in a brown paper bag and store at room temp or in the freezer if you can just no hot room or anything like that

Most drugs in liquid degrade faster, it's just exposed to a lot more moisture and oxygen than a dry blotter.


After a year it should still be pretty potent if taken care of correctly, you don't really need to up the doses but the side effects do get a lot more noticeable and the trip is less "clear". By two years it will likely have degraded quite a bit though.. obviously careful titration is always necessary as the liquid can evaporate overtime causing a stronger concentration. After a certain point it can be very hard to get a reliable dose, you almost always under or overshoot it.


By the time you get to the end you'll need to be really careful, if your like me you'll probably just be inclined to put some water in it and down the whole thing but that can easily be in the 1mg+ range so it's not exactly safe by any means. Dosing like this is extremely unpredictable, usually best to dilute it down to 100ml, take 5-10ml and gauge the potency of that to see what would constitute as a normal "hit"

Yes... I had a buddy tell me that he had some "spent" vials (they were sweet breath bottles) and he handed me one to suck on... I knew I was fucked when it splashed on my tongue... fast forward 45 minutes and he and I are communicating with each other using singular words that mean entire books to us and spouting off about rainbows and unicorns before my best friend comes out pissed off and throws both of us into a bad trip... He was downstairs naked having a freak out, I was upstairs naked having a freak out, and we both were fed half a xanax and then spent the night avoiding each other until we came down.

Started off great, ended badly.

Moral of the story, liquids cling haha.
