LSD Tripping tool style!

I think I was trying to be a bit of an ass, and playing the "Tool hater". Really, I like Tool. But I STILL THINK that if you consider Carey the best drummer ever, you have a LOT of exploring to do. There are a few too many drummers in the world to bestow the crown to one individual...unless you're some ass-faced Mullet-head. Which, if you don't like the bands I like the most, you are. Fact.
 
Music

Tool is a great band, there is no question. However, no one band can truly be called the greatest. There is different styles of music for different thought patterns. If I feel like relaxing I might listen to some orchestral music or opera, or some hypnotic rock music, like Tool. If I feel energetic (or angry) I put on some Monster Magnet or Dope or other high energy rock. Which isn't to say that all MM or Dope songs are energetic, there are some very relaxing Monster Magnet songs that immediately come to mind (Baby Götterdämmerung). The point is, there is no one greatest band. Each band has it's own purpose and artform.
 
If you think hes such a great drummer because he varies his drumming patterns then you should listen to more math metal....NOt that any of them type of drummers are anywhere near the best in my opinion, but they should represent what tool's drummer could do if he were pumped with some amphetamines... haha
 
um back to the subject - that trip report was boring, unreadable and just plain stupid.

To pin, I listen to plenty of metal (or math metal as you nerdily referred to it =D). Two of my favorite bands are Rorschach and Kyuss. Also, I never said Tool is the best band... just that they are the greatest rock band out there right now. I have a life... one where I get paid to record and engineer these bands (although not Tool, yet, but I got to work with their producer on another band, Flaw.) What do you do?

To Creakle, yes Carey is the best rock drummer out there right now. Of course it's an opinion, but it's also one that many of the respected drummers out there in the professional world whom I've worked with share with me. But yes, it's still an opinion. I've done my exploring, thank you. It's how I worked my way up the ranks in the recording industry microcosm.

Also, to the idea that metal bands represent what Carey could do if he were spun... umm, yeah, that pretty much lets me know who I'm talking to. 8)

Sure, he's an amazing drummer, wouldn't try to dispute it, especially since I don't play drums.

AND, back to the main topic of the thread...if it's supposed to be about Tool, why isn't it in the Music section? It's not even a trip report. If it's supposed to be, then it's useless.
 
Neeto. Tool rocks. All you haters can eat a dick. Tool on acid however (from personal expirience) is terrifying.

You need to stop acting like you are the god of knowledge when it comes to music, seriously. I have more of a musical background than you think. And no, im listening to queens of the stone age right now. All Im trying to say is tool's drummer is not the god of all drummers, Im not saying the whole band sucks you fuckin retard. Im not saying their drummer is not good either. He is good, but he is NOT THE BEST. Its pretty obvious because the majority of the people responding to this all agree you dont know jack shit if you think hes the best.

What a piss poor arguement to back yourself up. There is a fine difference between what you listen to, and who the best drummer is. I do not at all see how you connect that. Hell buckethead/yngwie malmsteen are a few of the best guitarists (I have others im more influenced by though) in my opinion, but I dont listen to their fucking music. Maybe the solos and guitar work by theirself :D
