LSD Tripper Amputates, Flushes Monster-Containing Testicles

LSD doesn't make people do shit like this. Adulterated indeed. Its sad what some people will sell to make a buck.

*conspiracy theory*

Not only is it logical to think the 'dose' was something other than dose, the details of the story could be bullshit too.

Do you trust the media more than a drug dealer?

With a growing rate of marijuana supporting stories in the media, there's got to be some line drawn.

I'm 21 and don't know I've ever seen a smear campaign for LSD.

^^ yeah i didn't think about the fact that the person might be a severe drug abuser and have massive brain damage from excessive use, leading to psychosis and shit. But either way, i still cant believe acid would make someone cut off their own balls for fear of monsters residing inside them. Sounds like more of a PCP/sherms like drug than a psychedelic.

On April 18, officers responded to a residence to assist the Arcata Mad River Ambulance with a 31-year-old male subject who had just castrated himself. Medical personnel and officers were unable to locate the subject’s testicles. He later told officers that he flushed them down the toilet as he feared they contained “monsters.”

Bollocks - pun slightly intended.

Many LSD users experience flashbacks long after initially using the drug.

More bollocks.

Some LSD users experience severe, terrifying thoughts and feelings, fear of losing control, fear of insanity and death, and despair while using LSD.

...and some don't.

WARNING: This story contains graphic content.

A recent rash of what appear to be bad acid trips has caught the attention of the Arcata Police Department, which is warning people who may use the drug.

It started on April 18, when officers responded to a residence to help Arcata-Mad River Ambulance personnel with a 31-year-old man who had just castrated himself. Medics and officers couldn't find the man's testicles, according to APD, and he later told police that he'd flushed them down the toilet because they contained “monsters.”

Then, beginning on May 8, the incidents picked up. A 21-year old man took LSD and wandered from his home without adequate clothing or shoes and without saying where he was going. The man wandered in the forest for two days while his family and friends looked for him. He returned two days later, according to police.

The next day, police were called to Mad River Hospital to assist with a combative 19-year-old man reportedly undergoing flashbacks -- two weeks after he took LSD.

On May 12, officers found him struggling with three friends trying to get him to go to the emergency room. The friends asked officers for help, and they detained the subject and held him for psychological evaluation by Humboldt County mental health workers.

On May 11, officers were dispatched to the 900 block of H Street where an 18-year-old man under the influence of LSD was throwing himself on the ground in the middle of the street,

APD said. He was arrested and taken to jail. The same night, Arcata police helped Humboldt State University police arrest a subject on LSD. Another officer reportedly made contact with two other people having flashbacks, both of whom were cared for by friends and family.

Arcata Police Chief Tom Chapman said the department has not recovered any samples of acid in relation to the incidents, and could not say whether the recent events are due to contaminated LSD or a sharply increased usage of the drug.

”I hate to call it a bad trip,” Chapman said, “but they're having a bad trip.”

Chapman said people using the drug can become a danger to themselves and others, and that its use can trigger a mental health “break” in someone with underlying mental health issues.

I wonder if this is really LSD. Seems strange that all these people would be having the same problem. Pretty good scare tactics and now LSD will get a bad name again. And I gotta admit, having a bad trip and then being arrests and thrown in jail on top of that would make for a truly scarring experience.

People need to understand that psychedelics just arent "party drugs". While yes, they're fun, and they're nice for partying if you know how to handle yourself, but psychedelics live up to their name as being a trip. Its a crazy journey that if you're not prepared to go on, you shouldnt be on it in the first place.

Just taking it for shits and giggles because you want to get fucked up is the wrong way to go about this, as that's just not how you get something positive from your usage.

I'll probably get shit for agreeing with this, but no truer words have been spoken. ;) People who've read up on the psychedelic experience and have experienced it a few times in a safe and comfortable environment are unlikely to go out and do stupid things whilst tripping, it's the people who decide to drop a few tabs to "get fucked up" without any understanding of the drugs' effects that go out, make asses of themselves, get arrested, and give these wonderfully mind-opening substances a bad name.

Thank you sir, exactly the points I was getting ready to make. :D
A lot of these stories are likely either sensationalist journalism to sell more anti-drug propaganda to the uninformed masses (my parents included, as they're sure that all news stories are thoroughly fact checked, especially stories like these), or just matters of stupid people taking stupid approaches to drug use, doing stupid things and ultimately paying the price for their stupidity.

Bicycle Day and 4/20. Much celebration around that time in Arcata. It is the cultural center of Norcal. There will always be people who are not careful about dosing and have bad trips. The chemical is not to blame.

My Lord, the first guy castrated himself?? I mean even though it was reported in a newspapaer with the police and all, I can't help but be skeptical, I mean wouldn't that be too painful, you would gointo shock or pass out from blood loss.

I believe, no, i know, that psychedelics can cause people to act in ways like this. A very good friend of mine took some shrooms and tried throwing himself through metal railings.. stripping naked.. jumping into some harsh thorny sharp bushes.. screaming nonsense.. he was bruised up BAD..

It wasn't bringing out a latent psychological disorder.. he's fine now.. took a lil while to recover but is completely fine..

Wether or not the story is true, though, is another matter.

I bet half the people who end up doing ridiculous crazy stuff while tripping already have mental health issues to begin with, or are predisposed to mental illness of some sort.

I have bipolar disorder and I have never had any crazy shit happen from taking psychedelics. Psychedelics, mainly LSD, was my DOC when I was still using for the most part. I had only really smoked pot once or twice a year with no problems for many years, but once I started to smoke pot every night it triggered a manic episode. Turns out that this is very common. Marijuana is the main drug that makes bad things happen for people who have a mental illness, especially people with schizophrenia, but it's bad news for people with bipolar disorder sometimes, too.

I have seen some pretty bad freakouts in mentally healthy people due to psychedelics. Sometimes shit just happens. Psychedelics are pretty powerful and a lot of people get in way over their heads and crazy shit happens. You just don't hear about it a lot unless it's insanely freakish shit like cutting your balls off and police get involved.

I know someone who committed suicide while under the influence of LSD. He had mental health problems in the first place and definitely shouldn't have taken any. Although, I think he probably would have done it with or without the acid.

And I almost had the misfortune to witness a guy freak out on the stuff, as in pull off his pants/boxers and flop around on the floor while screaming prayers in Bangla. He also repeatedly told everyone that he's gay. I don't think he has any underlying mental issues, I think his freakout was a result of not really having done too much in the way of drugs in general, and being totally unprepared for what was about to happen...

Yep. LSD and other powerful psychedelics can do that kind of thing to some people, mentally healthy or not. It's definitely scary to see people lose it on the stuff. For some people who have a mental health issue, psychedelics will always trigger psychotic behavior, but for others, like me, everything has been fine every time. Just to be safe though, I'm retired from that kind of thing. College, work, getting too old for it :)

I think a lot of people do not take the time to learn about psychedelics before they take them, have no idea what they are getting into, and lose it because their world becomes so warped and they feel that they are losing control and "going insane". Most of the bad freakouts that I have seen happened when people took a higher, more powerful dose than they should have of LSD or something like 2c-e or 2ct2.

whenever i hear about extreme bad trips, i try and relate them to my experienes on LSD... For example, this guy who cut his balls off must oof had some reallllly bad issues relating to his penis. Maybe he raped someone and the guilt got to him. You know, on LSD, u dont just start to do things u wouldnt usually do. Bad trips are caused by insecurities, which all relate back to something in your phsyce.

^^ lol yeah for real... like they say "Believe nothing that you hear and only half of what you see."

I don't doubt what you said is true, but is it specifically psychedelics that make people act like this? I know of people who have done similar, 'self-destructive' things when they are drunk - yet alcohol is about as far away from a psychedelic as your can get! :)

Never heard of anything this insane happening on LSD alone. Maybe combos? Or at least an RC being passed as LSD.

On high doses of LSD,

ANYTHING 8o8o8o8o8o

can happen. I don't doubt that such a thing as cutting off one's family jewels and flushing them is possible.
If it didn't happen to match the propaganda slant that the media always spews, I would have no reason to doubt that this incident was also real. However, given that they always make up things to try to spread lies about drugs, it makes me wonder.
