LSD question

I'll be taking lsd for the first time. I'm a rather nervous person and believe, that something could go quite wrong if I get into a bad mind state, so there will be one guy to look over us (my friend will be trying lsd too) and I've also thought that taking some benzos with me, to take if things go wrong, might be a good idea. Usually I take xanax, and about 2mg-3mg gets me nicely calm, I would take that if things go wrong if I had xanax - but this time I don't have any, I've only got valium, and I have no idea how much to take if things go wrong. I suppose about 30-60mg should be fine, or is that too much? I'm really not used to taking valium, I haven't taken it for like 6years, it's even been like half a year since I took any xanax, so I have no idea how much I should take, and don't want to try any right now, because I don't want to waste any, I want to keep some for other time.

What would be the right dose of diazepam for me if things go wrong?
Could it actually do something bad, combining lsd with valium, I read that valium would just do what I think it would - tone down the effects of lsd,etc... but could it do something bad?

Taking valium on top of acid is fine, no problem.

I think 1 mg of Xanax equals 10 mg Valium. Approxemately.

30-60 mg of Valium is a bit too much. less than that should really do it. more like 20-30 mg.

Anyway......don´t worry so much. You`ll be fine. Sounds like you got it all planned out with set and setting and all.

Taking too much LSD and too much xanax-like benzo's can cause you to be very disinhibited and have holes in your memory which can be quite problematic. Happened to me one time.

Try the acid with little or no benzo's first because it can dull the trip and take away from the positive sides of the experience as well. If 2-3 mg xanax gets you nice and easy it appears you have some tolerance or at least insensitivity. Meaning 20-30 mg valium which gets plenty of people to sleep could be right for you... but definitely don't take such a dose all at once. Even if anxiety creeps up on you very suddenly just change the situation first, go outside and get some air if you are in, or move to another place just to escape without any benzo and just pick something totally different to do. Distract yourself it doesn't matter what you do, just start a new chapter so to speak.
If it doesn't work take something like 10 mg of valium if you are in a place where physical sedation is okay, if its no problem to sit or lie down and hang back for a while. Only take more after having waited a while to see the result.
Similarly take it easy with the xanax.
And start low with your LSD dose. If you become anxious easily that is all the more reason to underdose a little. At least then you feel still in control and not like you are dragged along. Without anxiety some overwhelming is okay but you have to be able to surrender and let go. If you can't do that easily at all normally it means you really should not get in over your head with psychedelics and the dosage of them.

True. I get black outs really easily if I mix alcohol with LSD. Kind of the same thing.
I think you should just keep the Valium as an escape thing. Only to use it if you feel really bad and just want to sleep and make it all go away.

I think your just pre-trip anxious. Once your tripping you will forget everything about the anxiety you were having. Just make sure your with people you are comfortable with, in a place were you feel at home.

Valiums a shiton more eurphoric than xaxax IME, xanax has no body high so to speak in my experience. I think 10MG will be enough if you don't have a tolerance.

What does the euphoria have anything to do with it? Hm okay as an adjunct to the trip, but now the intentions of taking a benzo are muddled. Xanax is anxiolytic and hypnotic but not very sedative, like you are indicating with body high as well really. Kind of changes it's hypnotic property that way, you won't get sleepy and fall down easily especially on acid but the hypnotic side can cause anterograde amnesia which is fucked up.
Valium is as said more sedative but I think that it can dampen the trip more which is a shame and not worth the euphoria. Xanax can reduce fear (/anxiety) which is the main issue here, without dampening the trip all too fast. Better retain some of that LSD euphoria you get from still tripping, it's worth more than any downer contentedness IMO.
Anyway xanax is definitely not one of the least euphoric benzo's if you ask me... far from it. And having more experience with it is also a fairly good reason - you don't want to experiment with a new drug on your first acid trip as a rule of thumb, even valium. Perhaps for the off chance you get a paradoxical effect, who the fuck knows.

I'm not sure whether I have actually build up a tolerance to xanax. At one point in my life, I took about 0.5-1mg (more often it was 1mg) daily for like 2 months. Guess that did something.

Either way, I'm just very careful about everything. I'm not sure about the dose of the lsd, since my friend is buying it, but all he said was that since we're new, each of us will take a half. I'm only gonna take the valium if it doesn't go right, not right away together with the lsd. I'm just the sort of guy that well... I'm not sure what I could end up feeling like if I get very nervous.... I'm a pretty calm guy, but once something stresses me out, I'm really not able to keep calm... I doubt I would actually do anything bad, but I've felt extreme anxiety/panic in my life before, and I don't want to have the experience again.

I'm still not sure about the valium, so I'll try it out on sunday, probably like 10 or 15mg. I've had it like twice before in my life and it's been a long time, so I don't remember how much it differs from xanax. I only took it for sleeping, when I ran out of nitrazepam, which worked the best for falling asleep for me.
