'Karma', isn't just some religious crap, and if you beleive it to be so then you're as ignorant as the folk who say that all drugs will kill you.
err, can you give us some scientific or rational basis /reasoning for the existence of Karma?
No? That's because it's an issue of faith, pure and simple, and around here, science is golden, not the lotus! After studying and practicing eastern philosophies for well over a decade, in parrallel with physics and chemistry which has been a life time study, I can say with confidence that Karma is pure Bollocks.
I've known too many c***s that have the worst track record in how they treat others, yet happily live into old age and die a natural death. Or they live on, still ripe and ready to rip off, deceive, manipulate or otherwise mistreat people or animals. Are they happy? In many cases, yes, and content in accepting that's what they are and non-regretful of their past actions.
Conscience exists in us all, but whether it's used as a guide to life, or simply viewed as a weakness or a nuisance reminder, depends on many things; the personality, upbringing, life experience etc of the individual. If it does "eat away" at the more conscientious person, yes it possibly can produce disease or even death, but that's got to do with
susceptibility of disease e.g. immune response, or mental state. Its not caused by some mystical force or the divine balance of the cosmos. And random accidents are just that; random. People with a history of doing well by others fall victim to random accidents every day. Being in the wrong place at the wrong time has nothing to do with whether you're a good or bad person. There
is such a thing as coincidence.
If Karma was real, how would the capitalists among us escape poverty, or the soldiers who've killed in battle avoid execution? And please don't say it will catch up with them in a future life.
As for LSD and the potential for bad experiences; While I rarely take hallucinogens myself these days, if I was to, I'd normally try to surround myself with pleasant people while tripping, simply because it's more fun. However, I once quite regularly tripped with a bunch of nasty muthas, types who would bash their grandparents for a buck. Not saying it never happens, but I never saw one of these bad-arse's have a seriously bad trip - maybe a bit of a disorienting one, but nothing serious. Yet I've seen the best people have terrible trips, people who've done right by others all their lives.
Self confidence can certainly play a part in whether a person deals with a trip or not, but so does emotional background, personal tragedy, etc. In saying that, there's no doubt whatsoever that set and setting can also play a big part, particularly to the inexperienced.
