So, some friends have invited me to an upcoming rave, they are regulars when it comes to raving and dropping acid. for the record i have only done lsd once, it was two hits of blotter, and to say the least it gave me a trip i while never forget. ive tried ecstasy and DXM, so its nothing new, but they were telling me that lsd at a rave in public is a whole new experience. so i was wondering if there's any if there's anything to worry about

What Sekio said. I've done a very small dose of mushrooms at a bush rave, slightly more than 1 gram, and it was enough. The good news is, everyone else will be on something too, so it's welcome there. Much harder to walk around in the city while tripping - very interesting, but not for beginners.

I've done acid in public and hated being around sober people. I felt kinda vulnerable...

Yup

Also @OP personally when i'm on acid, people who are rolling just make me wish that they would choke on their pacifiers, they annoy me so much. they just send a lot of vibes that are contradictory with the 'seriousness' of my trip, like i'm trying to listen to what the acid has to tell me and then someone who's rolling just sort of gets in the way with their stupidity, idk that's prolly just me, but that's one of the main reasons i don't trip at raves, or even go to raves anymore. most people like it, i don't.

What is "rolling"?
Rolling is a common name given to the effects of MDMA-esque chemicals ('Empathogens' I think?), the same way Tripping is given to the effects of Psychedelics.

i tried going out to a bar once with my friend when we were on acid. we took a walk around the bar, said hello to a few people we knew, then we said to each other after about 10-15 minutes - "Let's get the fuck outta here". I would never consider going out in public on acid again(bar, rave, mall, etc.) Keep it to outdoors (parks, camping, etc.) or a comfy living room with a few friends at most.

I take acid at rave-type things a lot! There is definitely a learning curve.

If you don't know the space where you are going it's better to show up sober, get a lay of the land before you dose. It will help later when you are confused to have a sober memory of where the bathrooms are etc.

Also if you don't know if you like the music, LSD is risky. MDMA can make me appreciate music I would normally hate, but LSD is much less accommodating. However there is literally nothing I can compare to dancing to music I love on LSD. I's the basis of many beautiful subcultures...

Your first time doing this, try 1/2 or 1 dose. Stay low -- raves are designed to alter your mind too, and the environment itself can potentiate the chemicals you take. Don't put yourself in a situation where you are vulnerable in a strange place without people looking after you.

In my experience, the biggest booby trap with LSD in public is that you may find it hard to communicate with other people, particularly when you are peaking. No one is going to judge you for spouting nonsense, but the effort to connect can be too much at times. My solution to an awkward social encounter is to not reflect on it, just remove myself to the dance floor and loose myself in the music again until I start to make sense.

My very first drug experience was LSD when I was 17. I was at the beach for spring break senior year in high school when a couple of friends offered me some. I was kind of anti drug at the time but saw the two squares of blotter and thought "no way can a couple of pieces of paper really do anything serious". So to be "cool" for once I took em. I didn't even know what tripping was and was in a very public place. Fortunatly everyone was having a good time as it was spring break at the beach so nobody paid any attention to me. It was very scary at first and had this feeling that "they all know" but after talking to my friends who gave me the cid and learning a little about what tripping really was I had a great time and socializing with new people was a blast.

I have never had a problem with cid in public as long as the dose is not on the extreme side. Its kind of a game to me to see how well I can maintain normal functionality while dealing with the psychedelic state.

OP, Note that taking LSD in public is not a "game." No offense to Synaptic Gap but that's the kind of attitude that can cause serious problems for the tripper. I am not trying to be harsh but LSD isn't really something to be taken lightly for a novice tripper.

OP, LSD in public can be very fun but it can also be an unpleasant experience. All I can really do at this point is reinforce what others have said by saying to dose low, make sure you are in a good mindset and learn to meditate. You don't have to be an expert at meditation (I am nowhere near an expert) but I have found that it calms me if the trip is becoming too intense. It doesn't make the trip less potent, it just allows me to collect my thoughts to an extent.

You are exactly right, LSD is one of the most powerful substances known to man and should not be taken lightly. I should have elaborated more. What I meant was that when I am on LSD and end up in public (usually not planned), part of the trip becomes trying to meld the two "worlds" together successfully. Instead of flipping out or getting anxious I try to have fun with it...hence the word "game". In no way do I mean you should just go out in public, drop some cid and see what happens. Nonetheless LSD can stay in the system a very long time and you never know what life may throw at you. No matter how well you prepare your set and setting, life can happen and you need to be able to deal with it...tripping or not. That said I would advise the OP to follow his heart/gut whatever you want to call it...and if you decide to try the cid keep the dosage in the low range. I would say no more than 2 hits. Have fun either way!

Thank you Logic for pointing out my misuse of the word "game". Psychedelics are tools for exploration not games.

I found my first LSD experience to be fairly challenging in this regard. Had to walk down a busy residential street and through a university campus to get to our designated green zone. Was difficult to realise that whilst your perception is doing a pretty funky little dance, you look absolutely no different to those around you - as long as you hold you hold your shit together.

I liked Synaptic's point above, and I must be honest, I played a little game with the experience. I had my USMC backpack on and dark glasses. Felt like I was leading my friends on a psychedelic patrol. It was very fun.

However, all I will add is that there is no hiding on LSD - in a psyche sense. Even on low doses, your soul is stripped bare and you will make connections with those around you, whether you choose to or not. I'm still to drop acid in a rave setting but I'd imagine the crowd will be fairly important. Trance or psy-music crowds will take of you. Well, they do in the UK.

Anyway, excellent advice above. Just go easy and you'll be fine. Music and LSD is a crazy experience.

I wouldn't take your first dose of LSD in public unless it's a threshold dose.

don't do lsd in a city or any grimy or even slightly fucked up area, it makes you a potential victim, i got robbed one time on lsd and i'm convinced it was because they could tell i was helpless (definitely not something i usually give off, i'm 6'3" 280 pounds mean looking guy). certain people, usually in poorer areas, look to victimize people and they'll go for the easy target, some dude moving really slowly and looking completely confused (me at the time) looks like an easy taget. it wasn't a traumatic experience or anything, it sucked coming down and not having a wallet though. no id to buy beer, no health insurance card, no food stamp card so have to pay more for food, it sucked.

i wouldnt take a high dose in public maybe camping but thats as far as i will go or take a dose and later walk around when im more clear headed, which can be really fun you just have to be careful of course. ime lsd gets quite dissociating at higher doses whether you like it or not, you could take more later if you please, it possibly might not work as well as the first dose but thatll be good in your situation you dont want to be to to tore up out in public.

also i have noticed the same thing if you just go about your day normally or as you would off psychedelics no one will even know your on something, your perception of you standing out more than normally is all inside your head. i have been around quite a few people on psychedelics without them noticing its kind of interesting/fun actually.

The only time I did LSD by itself in public, it was a traumatic experience. I say this given that I tried to control some factors, like picking a day with nice weather, and doing something I thought would be pleasant. With LSD, even a touch of anxiety or paranoia can morph into a reality where that's all there is, and it's hard to escape. The outdoor world is not a controlled environment so you're putting yourself at risk.

That said, I've done it in public with MDMA and I had a much better experience, but I was at dance events where a lot of people were on drugs so it didn't matter. I wouldn't want to do it in normal, mundane land where people around me are just doing their day to day shit.

I indulged at Barack Obama's inauguration.

1.8 million people that were hopeful, happy and excited.

It was unreal

:D
