Apologies for the somewhat misleading title. The title would suggest that there is some kind of crisis at hand, which there definitely isn't. Right, SWIM has always wanted to take LSD, a lot of his friends have taken it and say that it's amazing. What stops SWIM from doing LSD is, about a year and a half ago, SWIM had the most horrific experience on Gold Leaf E's (and whatever else they contained). SWIM felt like he was going insane during this episode and watched as his friends all went horribly skinny and started to look like they were cartoons. SWIM was having stabbing pains in his chest, and his heart was beating very fast. It was quite possibly the worst night of his life. Ever since then, SWIM has had problems with anxiety, and keeps on getting flashbacks to that night. On a daily basis, SWIM tries to battle his fear of going insane. SWIM's anxiety leads him to believe that he is going to go schizophrenic and will end up in a mental hospital, These extreme feelings of anxiety lead to depersonalisation and derealisation which just makes things even scarier. SWIM has been put on a low dose of Citalopram (10mg) and has found that it has done fuck all. Every day is constant battle, and he is absolutely terrified of the thought of going insane. It causes regular panic attacks...Now this leads SWIM to his next question, which he may have answered himself already. SWIM is able to buy LSD tabs and his friends really wanna take them with him. Of course, SWIM is absolutely terrified of taking a tab and "going schizophrenic". SWIM has thought of perhaps having a few 10mg Diazepam's on hand to ease the nerves. Should SWIM try acid or is it best for him not to go near it? :?

Assuming SWIM is you, You're on citalopram (an SSRI), so no you can't take LSD. I highly doubt you're going to magically turn schitzo if you haven't already, but mentally the SSRI you're taking is probably just messing with your head even more. I've never heard a single good thing about them. I don't know why you want to take acid if you're on anti depressants... isn't that something you wanna take when you're in really good standing???

Oh yes definitely, I do worry if what I'm experiencing is a post-traumatic like effect from the bad time I had on the Gold Leaf, or if it's HPPD. As I do have snowy vision, see purple in my vision at times etc.

We dont use "Swim" here. You shoud edit that out. Also, it doesnt sound like your E's were lsd.

The E's I bought were Gold Leaf's which I was hoping contained MDMA, which they may have done, but they must have had something else in them, I was tripping hard that night, it was fucking horrible!

It doesn't seem like you are in the right frame of mind for psychedelics. Sorry, but sometimes it's just better not to.

If you were to do it though, the Diazepam should help you really well. The SSRIs should diminish the effects of Acid too. Really though, it doesn't sound like psychedelics are something you should be doing right now.

Btw, how much MDMA did you take in the end? You could've done too much. Otherwise, read up on PMA/PMMA. Might have been that

We can't discuss what was in them, we have a rule against it. Also it is inappropriate to phrase your question to ask us if you should do LSD or not. We don't have many rules but I'd like you to check them out to prevent you from breaking them accidentally, alright? Thanks in advance for that.

Now, assuming you just want advice on the matter and avoiding the technicality of asking for us to actually decide for you:

  • As is said, combining LSD with anti-depressants is no good for several reasons. The results are unpredictable, in a lot of cases it prevents you from tripping but in other cases there may be less interaction or the quality of the experience may be altered.
  • Furthermore, you were put on the anti-depressants for a reason even if depression is a bad diagnosis for you and if the medication doesn't work for you. You should still first talk with your therapist about waning off it, after you have actually given it a proper chance and enough time to start working. Chances are that other approaches of treatment will be discussed and my opinion is that you would do well trying to work it out with these people because there is guidance and better professional reliability than tripping (unless maybe if you would have had extensive experience with that and then wouldn't need to come here to ask about it).
  • Which brings me to the point that if you are instable in this way bordering on anxiety, panic, depersonalization and derealization it is very risky to take LSD. Yes it was and can be used therapeutically but there must be some professional support and structuring and guidance so that it can be approached carefully and complications can be dealt with adequately.

Maybe further down the road tripping could alleviate some things for you if you have some stable ground beneath your feet to rely on, but out of desperation things have a fair chance of getting even worse and I am sure that doesn't help you at all even if you are going through a battle right now.
