LSD Flashbacks

Ive heard this (as im sure everyone here has) so many times by people who are "drug-free" or even just against psychedelics. Ive never had a "flashback" or anything. LSD (or any psychdelics for that matter) will definitely change your life and your outlook on life, but you'll never be walkin down the street and start tripping balls all of a sudden.

Thats ridiculous, but unfortunately those are some of the biggest misconceptions about the long term side effects of LSD use. Pure (or at least more pure) doses of acid are used up by your body and should just about completely leave your system. LSD does not get stored in your spine, neck, etc and cause flashbacks if you were to accidentally pop something. I don't discount flashbacks as they definitely have happened to me, but only really after smoking marijuana and they have never been that intense, only minor changes in my visual field/recognition. Other than the fact that you trip your face off harder on really good acid, you can usually tell if its pretty good by the feel of it working in your body. The first 2-3 hrs after taking acid, I am able to feel areas in the back of my head working over time and sometimes this bothers me and I become kinda spaced, but after I plateau and start to come down I can feel the acid working in my forehead area. (around the 3rd eye, slightly above your eyebrow level) This is not to say acid is completely safe either, I believe acid and or all psychedelics/drugs should be used only by those with a strong willpower/mind.

I seem to get a flashback everytime I smoke a nice amount of weed, I feel the waves get the rushing train of thoughts and have full on lsd hallucinations CEV's & OEV's/ The CEV's I am usually flying through crazy neon colored fractal landscapes.

What is a flash back really?

I've never been able to understand what a flashback really is. I've eaten my fair share of acid over the past year, probably more than I should have. I've never gotten a flash back before but some of my friends have. I've even seen a friend have one. He is a few years older than me and has done quite a bit more drug abuse than me. He exclaimed, "Woah! Did you see that big white flash?" while I was driving. I didn't see it, but he had caught me off guard so I wasn't sure if I just missed it. Later that night after smoking more weed it happened to him again and I was sure that it wasn't actually there because I was looking in the same place he was and I was ready for it.

Is and LSD flash back just a trip that happens without taking LSD? Or is it a flash back to an experience that someone had while on LSD?

I've noticed that now when I smoke a large amount of pot I have a more psychedelic experience then just being euphoric and stupid. It doesn't feel like I'm on acid when I smoke pot but everything is a bit more groovy. I've been suspecting that I'm just more open to the psychedelic experience now that I've tripped a bit, but I guess LSD could have changed the way my brain perceives the effects of cannabis on my body.

I don't believe in flashbacks. I did 2.4mg worth of LSD over a six-week period and I've yet to zap back into LSD-land even for a few minutes.

Then again I am not a pot smoker.

I did have persistent HPPD from my first few 2c-e experiences that lasted a few months. I used to see faces in everything, but now I don't.

I've taken LSD about 50 times over the past three years and I've only had one or two LSD flashbacks. I believe that it is a conditioned response that your brain has to certain stimulus. One time I was driving my car and the song Astronomy Domine by Pink Floyd came on. I have listened to that album many times while under the influence of LSD and when I heard that song it brought be back to the psychedelic experience. It was pretty light, like I had only taken one hit. I began to panic because I was tripping to hard to drive even though I had not ingested any drugs. It only lasted for a few minutes but it startled me quite a bit. It is basically the same thing that happened with Pavlov's dogs but instead of salivating when you hear a bell, you trip when you hear Piper at the Gates of Dawn.

The only flashback I've ever had was about three weeks after my first trip. I had just turned the water off in the shower and pulled the curtain open. In front of my vision I saw what looked like diamonds in a pattern moving insync in small circles. It was cool, I just sat there and watched it till it went away.

I absolutely cannot stand the bs ers that make up things like that about wonderful substances.
People thinking shrooms make holes in your brain and acid stays on your spine to be dislodged later.

But I was playing guitar hero, when you look away its very trippy and realistic in comparison to an acid or shroom trip, made me think I was having a flashback :P

I really wish that I could have a flashback by listening to music I listened to when tripping.

Closest I had to a flashback was watching music videos on 2ce that I used to loop on MDMA.

i only read the OPs first question ..
You will never have a heart attack though it is very true that you can have flashbacks many years later as i have,,i used to used acid on almost a daily basis...and herd of flashbacks but didnt have any untill it was a few years later,,at first it scared me but then i just decided to go with it like it was a free buzz ...i was in a bank where they had thos sycoldelic floor tiles and couldnt stop stairing at them cause they were all swirlling and shit ,,,,so no big worries it happens,,,but also not to all,,i have since the bank incident had many more flashbacks ,,,just sitting in my living room watching the curtains move and shit ,,,i always just went with it ,,like i said it like a free buzz that doesnt realy last long at all,,so no worries ,,,keep yer chin up...

Actually LSD and the same chemical that makes you trip from "mushies" is stored in your spinal fluid, there have been stories/rumors of people who cracked their back and started tripping. But the chances of that happening are very slim unless you are a regular user of these drugs.

LSD is one of the best experiences I have personally had, definitely worth a try!

This sounds like a combination of urban myths/possible gov't propoganda that have been going around since the 60s.

I've heard, and read, people claiming that LSD could be stored in fatty tissues in the brain, which is completely false. Most of this was spread around by law enforcement officials.

Also, I remember reading about the "only LSD related death" being a subject in an experiment who had a heart attack. While it was unclear if the heart attack was due to the acute effects of the drug, or this guy just happened to have a heart attack while on lsd.
Whatever the case may be, LSD has one of the shortest half-lives in the body of any drug. Even a massive dose (in the milligrams) would be completely undetectable by any known instrument or measurement after 3 days

actually the only know LSD related death was observed in an elephant, not a human. And it was an injection in the milligrams of LSD. And i think it was a seizure not a heart attack. Which could easily be expected, when injecting milligrams of LSD, while being an elephant. lol.

I think there were at least a couple of reports on erowid about hospitalizations after snorting LSD crystals and there has been a human death. But don't worry about that, getting struck by lightening is more likely to kill you.

I'd say the real risk factor is mental not physiological. If you overdo it like I did it can cause lingering psychosis. Most psychedelics you trip and then may have some tracers or HPPD or something for awhile after but more or less "come down" to normal, but with LSD it can cause thought patterns to change in a semi-permanent way.

That event was disputed bevause the elephant was on many different drugs at the time so people arent sure what killed him. After taking 2c-e forthe first time i
Had subtle hppd for a couple of weeks after (looked like the walls were shifting and rippling at the edge of my vision). No acid flashbacks yet though.
