Ok, this is my first trip report. I don't usually feel the need to write reports, but since I'd been wanting to try acid for many years I thought it was worth while writing a report on my findings.
The original plan was that me and my friend were going to to stay out in the woods all night. But after much deliberation we decided it was best to go during the day instead. And thank God we did (you'll find out why later).
We headed off just after 3:00pm, and once we arrived we walked around looking for a suitable spot etc. We finally came across a nice looking log and sat down admiring the view. It was nice and bright but not too hot, with the sun creeping through the leaves on the trees as we sat shaded from the heat. So we decided this was a good enough place to go for it. I seperated the blotter and handed one to my friend. I put it on my tongue for a while, before washing it down with some water (nearly choking to death on it).
From the moment we put it in our mouths there was a weird feeling in the air. As we sat minding our own business a little girl comes wandering up to us and says, "last time we went on a bear hunt we had to go home", "really, what happened?" asked my friend. "Mummy got scared" mumbled the little girl. Then thew girls parents followed behind her and said hello to us (strange behaviour for Londoners I thought), and went off looking at a mushroom patch with their other children in tow.
After that minor disturbance we decided to get up and walk around for a while, instead of waiting for it to hit. We made our way up a hill and sat on a bench in the sunshine. At this point we kept looking around and going, "hmm?" a lot. This is when I said, "something's not right. I can't place it but something's not right. I feel...funny". At this point I couldn't really feel any physical affects, apart from this strange twisting feeling I had in my stomach. It was a weird sensation that I often confused with the feeling of hunger. Tho I'm fairly certain it was just the acid playing tricks on me.
I wasn't absolutely sure but I thought I needed to use the toilet. So we got up and started walking again, and went in search of a secluded spot suitable for me to do my stuff. As I hunched down in the bushes to do my business I looked at my arm and noticed my veins looked weird. There was this creeping type pattern that seemed to bring my veins and freckles together. It made my arm look appear to be transparent, with something wriggling under my skin. And even when I touched it the pattern would ripple in a natural way.
Next up we decided to attempt to draw something (I took a brightly coloured notepad and some scented felt tip pens with me). We tried to mark the paper, this proved to be very difficult as our hands were shaking quite violently. But as the ink touched the paper it seemed to come to life some how, almost like it was a flashing neon sign. And the paper looked as though it had some kind of watermarked pattern on it, almost like a paisley pattern, but more introcate. By this point we were giggling over nothing and everything. We'd just say a random word and start laughing. Then we'd become aware of the people around us and shut ourselves up. We didn't care if people would find out what we were up to, we just didn't want them to see how rubbish our drawings were. Plus we were embarrassed about our art 'equipment'. We were laughing at the fact that people might think we were serious art students. They'd want to get closer to inspect our work only to see a day glo pad
. My friend kept being really loud and saying in this retarded voice, "we've been let out for the day to do our colouring book!". We were in histerics!. Then five minutes later we'd say, "why were we laughing like that?. I t wasn't even that funny". We also took some photographs of ourselves pointing and laughing at the drawings.
(One of the crappy drawings
)
This is the point where I looked at the bench we were sitting on and noticed all the grains in the wood dancing around. Then we started looking at the trees too. They looked like they were breathing in and out. We could see all the roots sucking up the moisture from the soil. And sometimes they were even sighing as they let out a breath. We couldn't believe our eyes so we got up and touched one of them. But even when we put our hands on them they felt like they were breathing aswell. It was unlike any hallucination I'd ever experienced before. With Ketamine you'll see something and know it's your mind playing tricks on you. They'll be something in a shadow that'll trick you into thinking it's something else. Then your mind will fill in the blanks. But with acid it's like you try to think about it logically because you dion't feel completely wasted. I felt pretty normal (physically speaking) and I didn't feel high at all (even tho my pupils were huge!). But when you touch a tree and it feels and looks like it's breathing, you begin to question things a bit more.
There was also this weird aura type thing around us. Whenever we'd wave our hands around there was like a mist of rainbow coloured dust that trailed behind it. It could be easily manipulated and at the flick of a finger the bark of a tree would ripple like water. That's kind of how it felt actuall, like being under water.
So, we did some more drawings before deciding we needed to get some sun. But we couldn't tell whether we were cold or not. We went in search of sun anyway. It seemed we were always trying to search for something, even tho we didn't know what. But half the fun seemed to be in the looking anyway. So we roamed around being naturally led from place to place. We picked up some bad vibes in certain areas and kept moving untill we felt comfortable. After a while of this we started to think we were getting hungry and neither of us thought to bring any food 8(. So, we decided we had had enough of the breathing trees and wanted to venture out for some chips instead. "I don't think we should go out", I said, concearned that we might arouse suspician. "We are out!", said my friend. "We can't get anymore out than this!". He also kept saying that he was craving a buttered baguette. "Of all the things the mind can conjure up and I think of a fuckin' baguette!", he said laughing at himself. Sadly tho, this is where it all started to go wrong.
After wandering around for a while we realised that we couldn't find our way out. I thought that if we just stuck to the paths we'd be alright. But the paths seemed to vanish and all I could see was those trees huffing and puffing in front of me. My depth perception was also way off so I couldn't see hoe far into the woods we were.Everywhere looked the same!. But we remained calm and said we'd just walk around untill something jogged our memory or looked familiar. But we were going around at such a fast rate that we couldn't remember where we'd been or where we were supposed to go next. Our minds were completely blank. I was panicking or anything tho, it was just the frustration of it all. Knowing that this thing had beaten us. We felt like we'd been swallowed up by the forest. Like in some twisted fairy tale or something.
After a while we stumbled upon an exit. But it led out onto some weird looking street with tropical plants and so on. I felt like I'd just walked on to a Hollywood film set. It didn't feel right, and seemed artificial in some way. Plus there didn't seem to be any clear way off of this street, so we went back into the forest again 8( . It must have taken us the best part of 2 hours to escape the clutches of that forest. Needless to say, we were so relieved when we finally did escape. So we started to walk towards the bus stop and go in search for some chips.
Whilst waiting for the bus we began examining our skin once more. The transparent pattern was still there, but this time it was all over the place. There were bigger versions of the pattern in the road, and thye rainbow coloured hue tinted the houses opposite the bus stop. The people who passed us along the way appeared to have strange looking heads. Like looking into one of those fun mirrors at a fairground, all distorted and bent out of shape. Finally the bus came and we got on it, trying our best to act 'normal'. But strangely I didn't feel self concious like I normally would on pills in this situation. It felt better to be around other people, When we reached the top deck of the bus what did we see?, some fat woman devouring some chips!
. It's like she was put there just to taunt us. "That bloody bitch!", I mumbled as my friend laughed in disbelief. We started getting really loud by this point, talking about some of the things we'd seen in the woods etc. I kept staring at everyone who got on the bus, looking at their weird heads and laughing. There was this one Chinese man with the weirdedt parting that ran right down the back of his head. "He could have parted the red sea with that parting" I said giggling to myself. After a while it got a bit too quiet and we prayed for some kind of distraction. Then before we knew it a bunch of really loud Jamican girls boarded the bus. I'd usually roll my eyes and hope for them to shut up, but both me and my friend kinda got caught up in the buzz of it all in a "yo sisters!, what's goin' down?!" kinda way. Funny
So we get to our stop and get off with the Chinese man and head for the chip shop. Now, I've been going to this chip shop for over 10 years. In all my time of going there all the woman has ever said to me is, "open or closed?" and "bye". So I go in first amd order a portion of chips (with much difficulty). Woman goes, "hello how are you?. Long time no see!". I was stunned. I thought of all the times she tries to start a conversation with me she chooses the time when I drop acid for the first time
. I just thought, "quit the small talk and give me some fuckin' chips!". "Chip fork?", she asks. Since when does she ask me if I wan't a chip fork?!
.
After we ate (the best chips I've ever had I might add) we went back to my house. We decided to watch X-Men 2 which was funny. All the characters looked like they were made of lego, and all the slow-mo shots looked extra slow like we could see it frame by frame (Matrix style). Plus we were laughing at how bad Halle Berry's wig was.
After a few joints and watching half of The Wizard Of Oz (we were laughing at Judy Garland's eyes, saying she was probably as high as a kite in all the scenes) we decided to call it a night. By this point it was nearly 2:00am and the acid had practically worn off.
So, in conclusion-it was a night that could have gone better, yes. But I feel that I've taken something away with me that I wouldn't swap for anything. That image of those trees will stay with me forever. And I'll deffinately never be able to look at a tree in the same way as I did before. If I was to do it again (which I hope to some day), I'd like to try in in a different atmosphere. Tho I'm not quite sure what yet.
On a final side note-the album I was listening before I left my house was the Labyrinth soundtrack. How strange that we should get lost in our own labyrinth. And how strange it was that we should subconciously put The Wizard Of Oz on. The story of a little girl who gets lost in a magical world where she's surrounded by trees that come to life, when all she wants to do is go home. And after my friend had gone home I noticed he left his lighter behind. The print on the front of it reads 'The Ancient Foresters'. Hmm?
