LSD - exp. - BE HERE NOW!

The point is sadhana, which is covered in the third part of the book.

^^ Exactly :)

I actually had to look that word up,

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=sadhana&btnG=Google+Search

The word "Sadhana" has a myriad of meanings, so it reminds me of Ludwig Wittgenstein's old slogan, "Don't give me the meaning, give me the use!" And the use, my dear friends, is esoteric for each and every one of us. Sadhana could be described as a personal understanding of God, or discipline-even spiritual practice.

You have to understand, this book - I think it was written in the 70's, he wrote it to help guide you "there", tripping on acid, written for the acid culture during the time. This book is just one book, there's tons of books - i'm saying for the psychedelic culture of today, trippin' on whatever, people reading this forum, not everyone, but if your tripping or whatever and just go through the middle section - with an OPEN MIND, don't sit and analyse what fucking words this guy used or 'errors' or this that and whatever, whats the problem? I'm tired and too lazy to quote whoever was saying something about well this book uses too many whatever words etc etc - who cares .. :).

Maybe the book just didn't do it for you, dunno, it did it for me. "Sadhana", i've tripped a thousand times before, learned a lot (sorry i'm not too descriptive tonight but i'm real tired) but this book changed my life in a huge way.

I have a 'personal relationship with god' - "god" whatever word you want to use, spiritually I personally feel i'm on the right track thankfully - and although I didn't finish this (by far..), I do have a 'message' i need to send, and i've been sending, i wish i could just "download" what i feel into people's heads - that are lacking that.. something. I can't just do that we have this thing called time, and space, slows things down - its living..

I'll get back later i've got a lot to write, oh man, i'm exhaused %) - basically i'm taking nikki's mom and her to court now for a security deposit, our lives, intertangled, lol like I couldn't get away from it if i wanted to almost. Its not about money, its.. i'll talk about it later :). After I open up a big can of WHOOP ASS on her mom in court, get a Judge to basically say fuck you, he's right your wrong pay him this much - done. I thought about it and even though I could use whatever money, I need to send a check to Nikki's house, with a note etc, to remind her and show that it ain't the money.. Basically her mom is a, well, in her own words, (i save everything),

I dropped out of school. I don’t drink or do drugs, so it’s not that. I don’t even want to talk about my life, which has progressively went to shit ever since moving in to this house. Oh yah, I don’t hold anything that went on in this house against you, but my mom, who I hate and don’t talk to, is a heartless cunt, cruel bitch, fucking whore, selfish, lieing, no good life-sucking, living waste of space ass- bag.(that’s being nice about it!!!) my dilema is that it’s hard to care about anyone when you don’t even care about yourself! That’s what it comes down to… I don’t talk to anyone- not even my brother. I feel like someone has sucked every bit of positive energy out of me, oh wait, they have. I hope u believe me when I say I’m so so so sorry tommy!!! I always reffered to you as my bestest friend in the whole world and I know u still are- it’s just that I’m so ashamed of what I’ve done or who I’ve become, that I hate to talk to anyone. I can’t lie and say I’m doing fine cause deep down I am awful, but on the other hand, I don’t want anyone to help me… I need to figure this all out on my own. Now, that I’ve got that off my chest, maybe it won’t be so hard to talk to you, but if we talk, I’d rather not talk about me at all- I want to hear about u, if that’s tight then holla!!! Love ya, Ricegirl

more later when i'm awake %)

You mentioned, "one's perpetual thought loops". This sounds insane to me. Is your mind like a broken record like those mantras the gurus give you to repeat over and over again or the Hail Marys the priest tells you to say etc., etc. ?

Look, I don't want to get into a pointless argument over a mere difference of opinion, but the more you notice your own mind, you'll realize that we all get lost in thought all the time. Perhaps you're beyond psychological strain and anxiety- you must be a very lucky, and of course a very 'sane' person. The rest of us often use different methods to feel lighter, more free and happier. The world, and our own minds, can be difficult places.

The difference between mantra and Hail Mary's is quite profound really. The idea of mantra is that the vibrational frequency of the words, as in just the sound and not the meaning, is supposed to attune your consciousness to different states. Personally I've been blown away by how high one can get with mantras.

Hail Marys seem, in my limited knowledge, to be a way of purging one's guilt- almost like lines given as a punishment in school.

Thats an interesting trip report and story, although I usual get some feelings of almost spiritual meaning I usually put it down to the mistress LSD herself, not exactly teaching one a lesson but showing one how the mind can be altered as mechine like anything else. Potentiality of the sense is basically it, a cruel but fun mistress, perhaps nothing more, perhaps something more, Ive at most only ever had two blotters so I cant say too much.

Sadhana is a way of getting high. In the book Ram Dass this guy 900 mics of LSD and it hardly phases him. That because he's already higher than LSD can get him. He's high on sadhana.

I always thought that story about giving the guru "900 mics" of LSD was mythology, like much of the stuff in Yogananda's autobiography, another cult classic along with the Castanada (spelling?) anthropology hoax. All three books (including BeHereNow) were a waste of time.

Love gets you high, serving others gets you high, fresh air and nature, cleaning your house ....

Another 70's cult classic was the Baghagaveda (spelling?). Some of my uneducated, drugged-out, burned out, uncreative, friends joined the krishna movement. When I went to visit them they were like programmed robots, broken horses or cows, with no spirit.

Most gurus of the 70's were fucking the young women. It was supposed to be an honor to sleep with them and exchange energy. That's where they got their energy. In India, becoming a guru was equivelant to becoming a rock star.

Been there, done that. Fortunatly, it didn't take me long -- not even 15 minutes to realize these books are garbage. I did read Yogananda through for the understanding as to why he was so popular? Must have been a smooth talker supported by rich, old ladies.

I'll admit to liking the food at krishna temples and singing for my supper there a few times but not without asking the preacher why I should read a brick-sized book of mythology and asking for the point. Jesus said the same thing to the Pharisees who burdened the sheeple with volumes and volumes of law on "how to live."

So what's your point? You don't like what gets some poeple high? Your loss. To each their own. Live and let live.

A book, pieces of paper, words -- with no pictures -- gets you high?!

Fuck the graven images, a dildo!

Experience the real thing.

If not, punk yourself out, wake up, face reality:

Money is the cause and perpetuation of slavery.

Uhmm...no. Singing gets people high. Stretching and breathing gets people high. Simply paying attention gets people high. Relaxing gets people high. Sharing things with others gets people high. Letting go of one's hangups gets people high. Learning to live the present moment gets poeple high. Self-discipline gets people high. It is the real thing. You have your way of getting there and others have theirs. It would seem trolling about how others get high is your way of getting high.

We are awake; perhapes when you yourself stop chasing the money, and step to one side of this common reality we all are encouraged emotionally to participate in, you'll then understand how to create the reality you truly want for yourself!

Tom, I don't know if this is a trip report, or what it is, but it sure is an inspiring piece of writing about LSD. Thanks!

giddyup Tom, thanks for that!

GoddessLSD-XTC, ya sad sack, stop hogging other people's reports if you don't get the point.

here's a tip (as the leper said to the hooker): write a report of your own (that doesn't get closed) and post away.

Does happy = high for you?

When I think high I think intoxication as does dictionary.com :\
# Slang. Intoxicated by or as if by alcohol or a drug, such as cocaine or marijuana.

12 a : filled with or expressing great joy or excitement
http://dictionary.cambridge.org/define.asp?key=37065&dict=CALD
a period of extreme excitement or happiness when you feel full of energy, often caused by a feeling of success, or by drugs or alcohol or a religious experience.

Those definitions you listed are all extremes.

You feel extremely happy or in a state of euphoria by breathing or stretching? Well who needs drugs if you can that kind of euphoria from breathing.

Those definitions you listed are all extremes.

Huh?? Extreme for you, maybe. High as in High on life is a quite common phrase, and its perfectly legitimate in the English language to use the word the way I use it. Just because you're not used to it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with my semantics.

You feel extremely happy or in a state of euphoria by breathing or stretching? Well who needs drugs if you can that kind of euphoria from breathing.

Yes. You've never heard of asanas or pranayama or meditation? They can get people very high. Why don't you actually read the book discussed in the thread, Be Here Now, before entering into a discussion about it. Its all about getting high, religously high, with or without drugs.

Maybe I should read it but I already have something I am reading so maybe later. How are they not extremes?

a state of euphoria
a feeling of intense happiness.
http://www.askoxford.com/concise_oed/euphoria?view=uk

very happy or elated.

filled with or expressing great joy or excitement

a period of extreme excitement or happiness when you feel full of energy, often caused by a feeling of success, or by drugs or alcohol or a religious experience.

High on life is a phrase I've best heard described by anti-drug persons/corporations. 8)

Maybe I should read it but.....

So you don't even know what it is I'm describing yet you nitpick me about the choice of word I use to describe it?

a state of euphoria
a feeling of intense happiness.
http://www.askoxford.com/concise_oed/euphoria?view=uk
very happy or elated.
filled with or expressing great joy or excitement

People get a state of euphoria from stretching, breathing, and meditating. Its called yoga.
People get feelings of intense happiness from stretching, breathing, and meditating. Its called yoga.
People get very happy and elated from stretching, breathing, and meditating. Its called yoga.
People get filled with great joy from stretching, breathing, and meditating. Its called yoga.
People get high from stretching, breathing, and meditating. Its called yoga.

often caused by a feeling of success, or by drugs or alcohol or a religious experience.

or a religious experience., which is what the book is about and is what I'm describing. Sorry if I'm commiting some sort of blasphemy using the word high to describe religious experience.

Yeah words, just learn: money is the cause of the problems in the world. Reality is The Way to live-life without money, laws and international boundarylines.

Tommy -

you should become a psychedelic writer/guru like Leary/Alpert/McKenna ... youre dancing closely with the mystery .... thanks for sharing

Revisiting Bicycle Day
If that link doesn't work I'll type a little summary of it and then give you my own opinion about it. Basically, Albert Hoffman (Father of LSD as most of you {hopefully} know) had a few random occurrences in his life called "spontaneous mystical experience"(SME) where suddenly he was transfixed into a state of bliss or ecstacy. According to Hoffman, there were a few (sorry for such a vague number) instances earlier in childhood when suddenly his consciousness was transformed or altered to a state beyond or usually incomprehensible to man's "natural state". Anyways he described the effects of this SME to last anywhere from 2 to 4 hours.
Alright fast forward to 1943, when he suddenly got this "urge" to go back over a chemical that had been long forgotten since 1938 when it was discarded as unuseful. That chemical is LSD-25. So he is going back over this chemical when suddenly... POOF ... BLISS ... ECSTACY ... He has a mystical experience. (chemical induced or spontaneous is up for debate). Now also note that he is actually qouted saying "I suddenly became strangely inebriated. The external world
became changed as in a dream. Objects appeared to gain inrelief;
they assumed unusual dimensions; and colors became more glowing.
Even self-perception and the sense of time were changed. When the
eyes were closed, colored pictures flashed past in a quickly changing
kaleidoscope. After a few hours, the not unpleasant inebriation,
which had been experienced whilst I was fully conscious, disappeared.
what had caused this condition?"
Now these effects are (just a guess so please don't even waste your time posting a reply saying "man there's no way to guess ug's by effects described... it's all dependent on set and setting and..." believe me I have heard this before and am well aware of these facts) anyways... these effects sound to me like those from around at least anywhere from 50 to 75 ug's. Considering that, the effects would have lasted at least 8 hours. (probably more like 10-12) But he says after a few hours the innebriation was gone. That sounds more like a SME to me. So my opinion is that LSD is NOT an accident and that there was a reason that he had that SME when going back over LSD... so that he would decide to test this substance on himself (to see if it was this chemical that caused his altered state), which he did the following workday, 3 days later (also known as Bicycle day) -the infamous day that the hallucinogenic effects of LSD were discovered. And now thanks to this (coincidental or fateful?) discovery, we may now consume this sacrament to open up doors we once thought unconceivable. If you ask me, LSD will be revolutionary in the next step in human mind evolution. That's why it was put here. (once again, just my opinion... feel free to form your own)

Peace out
