Lsd enlightenment without lsd

Yeah but you don't find those people calling themselves "gurus", you find them chopping wood and carrying water so to speak. I might go as far as to say that anyone willing to take the guru job is probably spiritually/morally deficient by definition.

Now, out of curiosity, where does someone like Terence McKenna fit into this dichotomy? Although he didn't call himself a "guru", I would classify him as the modern equivalent, considering the fact that he made a career out of writing books on and lecturing on the connection between psychedelics, personal growth, philosophy, and spirituality. And, whether or not you agree with half of his radical ideas, I think it's clear that his primary interest was in sharing wisdom and educating his audience.

I remember that claim from Grof, too. It was indeed OCD patients iirc and he was talking about doses over 1mg.

Are you sure you're remembering it correctly? I've read most of his work and giving someone 1000mics doesn't sound like something he'd do.

I think Ram Dass's guru was trying to claim that he was somehow "special" and worthy of following tho. I don't think Terence made the same kind of claims. Obviously if you believe that story about Ram Dass's guru putting the acid into his ashes and then giving it his disciples to con them - I don't think Terence would do anything like that.
