LSD Discussion Thread (Australian Centric) v II

Hi guys.

So i've recently acquired some tabs (posted in the other lsd thread). I've been researching acid for the better part of two years, and I study the relevant fields at university too, so I feel like I know most of what there is to know without having had the experience itself.

One thing I would have to put down to experience, is what to do while enjoying the trip. I've read all the stuff about set and setting, so theres no need to repeat that to me, but I wonder - what do you find the most enjoyable, and what do you find least enjoyable when you've dropped a couple of tabs?

Obviously music is a must. But is dark sounding music always going to end badly? Will some dark and heavy dubstep send me into a negative trip? Is it best to listen to some chilled psychedelic rock or upbeat dance?

With regard to co-ordination and actual ability (rather than how wise it is to do so) could you go to the service station if a friend drives you? Could you walk to the local park without trouble? Keeping in mind this will be my first trip, too.

What people will and wont enjoy when tripping is as broad as the likes of the general public. We can only tell you what we like when tripping, which may not be useful at all...

Every trip will also be different and you may want different things during different trips.

For a first trip I recommend... Listen to music that makes you feel good when sober. You may notice that your music tastes change when you trip or you may find that they are much the same. Personally, LSD increases my appreciation of music and doesn't change what I listen to, although when it comes to dancing and LSD I love prog/psy. Dark music wont put you into a bad trip on most occasions, but it is always a possibility. There are many factors that can contribute to a bad trip and most bad trips start off good so follow the rules...

You may be able to go to a service station with a friend while you trip. No one can really answer this question. Sometimes you will be far too paranoid to attempt a mission into a shop of any kind and entering such a place could just lead to confusion (which could also lead to a bad experience).

I recommend turning your phone off, telling everyone that you wont be available on your set trip date, getting everything that you think you may need well before the trip, having everything in easy to reach locations (the extreme confusion and body load can make simple tasks such as getting a drink, very difficult).

Have it in a safe and comfortable environment with as few people as possible, don't over-think, but do over-plan and do what feels right at the time.

The dose you take could be quite mild and you will have over prepared, or it could be a full blown psychedelic trip of epic proportions. No matter how much you have read up or how much life experience you have, this will be very new and amazing to you. I know you don't want to hear about it, but set and setting are key to a good trip.

Following these 3 rules will give you a good chance of having a very rewarding experience. Trip in the right place, with the right people and don't give in to astonishment.

Thanks Psilo!

That answers pretty much all of my questions!

I think you give peoples' similarities too little credit though. While people have different tastes in music - almost everyone enjoys music is some form. The same should apply to most other forms of entertainment.
Regardless of whether I would enjoy the same or not, I would love to hear some of people's favourite activities while tripping, because it may give me some ideas.

There is one thing I am confused by. What do you mean by "don't give in to astonishment". If there is one thing i've seen written the most (besides set and setting remarks) it's that you should let the trip take you without resisting. This seems somewhat contradictory. Could you help me out here?

Quoted for truth, and a perfect example of this is quoted next from my own trip report :p

We were going to get a sober mate to drive us down to the pizza place, but as Psilo mentioned, we were far too paranoid to go in so we decided to ring...

After that we were extremely hungry so we decided to order a pizza, which is probably one of the most hardest thing's Ive ever had to do. First, i forgot where the home phone was, Second, I couldn't remember the local stores number so i looked it up on the internet and found it, but after several failed attempt's i went to check the number from their website but realized i was looking at a store in America....FFS!

So Confused lol :p

Thanks JoshE. I've actually had a similar experience when i visited mary jane once, so I can understand the paranoia to a degree, but not so much the confusion. I will keep it in mind.

I'm confused too. 'Giving in' to the effects of LSD or another 'psychedelic' is vital IMO in order to allow yourself to be immersed in the full beauty of the LSD.

Unless you mean, 'don't think some of the thoughts/feelings/emotions you've experienced may translate into "real" life?' to the degree it may feel like it will while tripping?

Take my post how you want. I'm not trying to give people's similarities too little credit at all. I'm just stating that the different things that people like when tripping are very broad.

As for not giving into astonishment. You will only really understand this if you have a proper dose of LSD. It relates to letting it take it's own path and not fighting the trip. When you are in the midst of a full blown trip, you will most likely be astonished by what you are seeing/feeling. Just roll with what is going on, don't give in to what is happening or tell yourself that "this is too much". Let the LSD do what it does and just absorb it. If you give in to this drug, you will get scared and that is when even the hardest of hard asses will fall.

I look forward to a trip report of your first time with this wonderful drug :)

Ah, I see what you mean, and suspected that may have been it.

Thanks! And I look forward to posting one. May be a few weeks yet, as I'm trying to find an ideal time for it.

Oh, and one more thing. Would you recommend a small, medium, or high dose for a first trip? I know its hard to generalise, but its one of those things. I don't want to waste my first experience, yet i don't want to scare myself.

When I first tried cannabis, I dove head first without moderation, and I am really happy for doing so.

Ahh I get ya now :) Perhaps "giving in" were the wrong words, though I don't see how that's any different to what you just described in terms of "not giving into astonishment".

The large differences in dosage between tabs and dilution ratios of liquid make it hard for us to give you an idea of what to dose.

Since you are going to be in a comfortable set and setting, take one hit and hope that it's above 80ug.

If you are comfortable, mind blowing doses of psychs are very easy to deal with, even for the novice.

Man, I haven't tripped that many times compared to some of the people here, but one thing I will say is try get creative. I have found that my least favourite trips were when I was sitting around watching TV. Never again!

Try painting or drawing stuff. Making things is always interesting. I had this grand plan to buy some blacklight paint, sit in a dark room, get a UV light, and go nuts.

As for music, yeah as psilo said, whatever makes ya feel good when sober. Psychedelic music is always good because it can become so obscure. Another thing I have found which is great is to wear headphones at some point. That way you can eliminate any sound pollution from the environment and completely immerse yourself in the music.

Hope your first trip is a memorable one!

I would say that I LOVE watching TV shows and movies when I trip, which I don't do as much normally. All comes down to what you enjoy most and what makes you feel most comfortable during the trip.

I find it's only good warltching tv on the comeup, as it helps keep your mind off the anxious start of a trip. Any time after that it's a waste of good acid

Being in nature makes me moderately uncomfortable, I need a computer, good music and movies. All preferably as "trippy" as possible.

I love going to the park and chilling or walking around sydney harbour as I live near by on the kirribilli side. But I like to go only for a bit usually for the first 2 hours cause when it comes on really strong I prefer to be away form general public. Going home and listening to music, watching movies. (not TV) can't stand tv ads and shit whilst tripping.

Having sex is enjoyable in the right circumstances but I have had a bad experience as my heart rate went up a lot and I started getting panicky and anxious, so I just stoppped and everything went back to normal after about 30 seconds of deep breathing - was a bit weird:)

The few posts above me show how different everyone's tripping preferences are and this is only a tiny cross section of BLers, let alone society in general.

It brings me back to my earlier statement of "What people will and wont enjoy when tripping is as broad as the likes of the general public."

Some people watch TV, while others hate watching TV (even movies) while they trip. Some will listen to psychedelic music, but others will listen to death metal or top 40 (sigh) all night. Some will want to stay inside with all the creature comforts and others love nothing more than tripping while camping in the bush or on a nice beach. I usually crave physical contact when I trip (sex is amazing on LSD), but I know a lot of people who can't stand the thought of sex when they trip.... Each to their own.

All you can do is find out what appeals to you, in different states of consciousness and integrate what you learn over successive trips to make your next trip more enjoyable. I've found that It's the little thing that make all the difference :)

I can identify with that. I like to be within a reasonable distance to a Hospital.

Serious?

Sounds like just trying to write about what people like in general. Experimentation is the key. It also gives you a good excuse to search for the things you like doing tripping ;)
