LSD Come up - The Body Load

Hey BlueLight,

Whenever I take LSD the body load I experience is debilitating and outright exhausting. I don't get come up anxieties or anything of that sort it's just that as the come up progresses I find it more difficult to do anything that taxes the body be it something as effortless as standing. After the high smoothes out I feel completely fine, however, it always leaves me a little more exhausted than I'd like to be during the peak.

I'm wondering if anyone else experiences this with LSD, or even other psychedelics, as my friend experiences this also. If anyone has a solution to ease the come up body load I'd like to read what you have to say. Some of you may say that it's part of the whole experience, but if there's a way around I'd much prefer it.

Thank you.

Absolutely, 100%, yes, affirmative, I concur, firm agreement, contract signed and dated, you've got 30 days to move out.

I just had an intense day and just could not agree any more strongly than if I tried. I'm trying to add details but after today, shit, just MMMMMMM I CONFIRM YOUR SUSPICIONS THERE CHIEF ZALO.

Anything to ease this onslaught of THE JELLY LEGS, ... stimulants? but then that would simply ruin it! Slaying a unicorn maaaan not cool. Nothing? :( I just smoke heaps of bud to ease the come one mine always seem to come on so fucking strong.

Physically, all psychedelics seem to hit me pretty hard these days. Different flavors in different ways. Mescaline feels to me like getting hit by a bus ... LOL! I just thought it was 'cause I'm getting old (40s). =D Seriously, I don't remember feeling like this *at all* in my late-teens and 20s. Anyway, you'll find me on the couch as opposed to the dance floor. That's my solution. I know ... life of the party ... LMAO!

So I suppose there's no solution other than to endure the load? I thought I'd at least try asking haha.

Jelly legs are definitely the issue, but my neck also likes to give up holding my head up right and I'm stuck leaning up against a wall.

Gratuitous Grace, I personally find mescaline the easiest to handle both mentally and physically. It feels like a feather physically compared to the heaviness I feel from LSD, and especially 2C-B. I find it interesting how you feel the complete opposite. I definitely don't think it's age related as I'm 19 haha.

i experience this too.
i try to overload on magnesium and potassium the day or two before and the day of and that seems to help a little.
other than that, try riding a bike around or doing something active, i have found this to be the best solution for me.

Be active while on psychedelics or normally? I exercise regularly, and the friend of mine who also experiences this is significantly more fit than I am, yet it still affects him and I. I wish being fit was the simple solution I've been looking for. I'll give pre-loading on magnesium a shot as I'll be dropping a tab this Saturday.

I meant biking around or doing something that involves your legs during the come up/peak so you don't notice it as much.

Potassium also helps, because your body uses it to help your muscles contract, maintain fluid balance, and maintain a normal blood pressure.

Be more physically active when you take it. I find that with most psychedelics I feel the vasoconstriction (what is usually the body load) if I am not doing much, but if I'm walking (may be difficult at first but I promise it helps) then it goes away or never happens. If that doesn't help (maybe the vasoconstriction isn't what you're feeling) then try meditation.

That idea on vasoconstriction makes sense. I wasn't too familiar with it so I did a quick google search, and I think I'll be doing something active during the come-up this Saturday. If it helps I'll be quite content. Thanks for the suggestions.

Some interesting ideas here. I could relate to being active (as little as walking) while you're coming up, subjectively-IME mentally it feels like you get stuck in a mindframe and whatever you're doing you'll have a hard time getting out of it, but I found it more pronounced for other substances..

If you're looking for a psychotropic solution I would suggest low-ish dosing of ketamine, it greatly improves coming up for me, makes the trip a little stronger and lasts a short time. Your brain doesn't really perceive the legs giving up feeling. A personal example, although not directly related, is riding rollercoasters on acid with k.. it's less like your body is getting flung around and more like you're experiencing the ride.

Acid never had much of a bodyload nor did mescaline but AMT, MDA, LSA, and most of the phenethylamines it was fuck all to even get up to go pee.

I didn't notice it as much with tryptamines unless I smoked them and DPT had the worst bodyload of any drug I've ever done besides the toxic 5-MeO-AMT.

I usually dose at music festivals and I haven't noticed it as much as when I'm coming up but when I start to come down the body load is exhausting.

Mushrooms give me the worst muscle tention and body load. Also a pain in my nut groin region. I still love trippin tho

Dxm was the worst imho. I took triple cs. (A less then glamerous and endeducated time in my life) i couldn't even stand the room was spinnig and the weight of the world was on me.
All I could see was his posters and christmas lites in his room inside a small whirling cube. :\

Unfortunately, I didn't get an opportunity to be active, but pre-loading on magnesium and standing in -5 degrees celsius weather made the body load non-existent. As long as I'm distracted from the body load it seems to help a lot.

Agree with everyone here that the best option is to stay active during the come up. I'm more inclined to have bad GI distress, muscle tremors and other negative feelings if I'm just sitting around. The best for me is getting to take a short swim while I'm coming up. I've also noticed being cold seems to help decrease the body load. Exercising earlier in the day really helps (helps with mental set too!); even doing stretches during the come up makes a big difference.

Are you sure you're actually taking LSD and not getting some research chemical? LSD did not have that much of a body load at all to me, but if I was taking a very large dose of actual LSD I would find it difficult at times to do things normally like get up and move around since I was tripping very hard; but if I really wanted to I could do it.

If you really want a drug that has a lot of body load eat some Psilocybin mushrooms or eat a large quantity of cannabis prepared in food next time you have a long period of time alone without anywhere to go. I didn't mind the body load on mushrooms or cannabis but YMMV.

I'm sure I'm taking LSD. Gratuitous Grace said they feel a body load on mescaline, which I don't. I believe it depends on the person.

Standing in the cold does seem to help.
