LSD body load at higher doses

I'm just coming out of an LSD trip in which I took 1.75 above average tabs, which is the most I've ever taken, and my best guess is I had around 140 - 180 micrograms total. It was a very interesting experience, not quite what I expected, but nonetheless amazing... Now, I am considering doing it again in a little while and upping the dose to 2 tabs. I feel I would be quite comfortable handling more, say 2.5 or 3, but the problem is, it seems there are certain unpleasant elements that come with increasing the dose. Namely, body load.

I'm not talking about stomach cramps and all that jazz. I always chew root ginger about an hour into the trip and it kills most of that stuff effectively (try it). I'm talking about bizarre dysmorphic sensations, body horrors of sorts.

For example, at one point I walked through a marshy area and I started thinking of leeches, because on my first mescaline trip I'd laid down somewhere similar and stood to find I had six or seven massive leeches clinging to my legs red with my blood. Today, it was like I could feel two-foot leeches swaying violently on my legs. I got out of there and started thinking about something else, but obviously it wasn't nice. Another example, I went to drink from a public tap and the spray of water against my cheek felt like it blew gibs of flesh all over the place and warped my body in on itself. All this stuff was really squick and marred an otherwise excellent trip.

Part of the problem was that each time it happened, it made me think something was wrong and I was either in physical danger, or that the sensations would get stronger and put me through a hellish experience of terror and breakdown - a kind of almost-painful, para-psychological torture. It only took a second to get these thoughts under control though.

I've had milder experiences with this stuff before, and I know it's only an extension of the tripping mindset (when you imagine a sensation, it happens) but I can only imagine that at higher doses, it quickly becomes constant and unbearable.

So, is this a problem anyone else has with higher doses of LSD or any other substance? And if so, what do you do to combat it so you can just enjoy the trip?

Edit: One more thing - I was recovering from a cold when I took the tabs

This sounds pretty unusual to me. Most people will not typically hallucinate weird or threatening body sensations while on LSD at any dose. It's common to think that (if you take a fairly high dose) that you might not be breathing correctly, or your heart might be beating strangely, or your back might feel a little tense and funny... things like that.

But what you describe as "body horrors"... I think this is unique to you and maybe a very small fraction of the population. Maybe LSD isn't for you, unless you can summon the mental courage to reallze that these sensations are obviously false and not let them ruin your trip.

I wouldn't say that these "body horrors" as you call them are uncommon. It's logical to assume that these types of things will happen when taking a drug that alters your perceptions. I think it's something that comes with the territory. You have to realize that what you are experiencing is a result of altered perceptions and take a second to step back and ask yourself if what you believe you are experiencing is actually possible.

I've known people who have hallucinated body sensations at higher doses, but it's because they were stupid and put themselves into precarious situations. I never go outside when I take higher doses of LSD. Body sensations are normal at higher doses, at least in my experience. If there are any electronics active nearby, like say the refrigerator, I can feel the hum in many dimensions through body and it's not pleasant. I'm more sensitive than most people but that's just one example of how a body thing could happen. If the music has too much bass I can feel that as well.

First of all, when it's coming on and at the peak, I can't even stand up let alone walk. Secondly, I need to set my environment to be pleasant, comfortable, and non-offensive. Don't take this personally, but I don't understand why you would walk through a bog on LSD. I would much rather be at home, with lots of cool art and colours around, candles lit, low light, chill music, etc. At lower doses go exploring, but at higher doses make a cocoon of pleasantness and stay there!

I have OCD and I get these kinds of horrifying images all the time, both on and off drugs. I try not to let them upset me too much. Whenever I do find myself getting caught up in these kinds of bizarre thoughts, then I'll stop and say, oh it's the OCD acting up again, don't need to worry about that. I think you just have to remember that these are nothing but thoughts passing through your mind, they will come and go of their own accord and if you don't pay them too much attention then eventually they will go away on their own. Anxiety can feed on itself if you let it, you just have to ground yourself and let those energies flow out elsewhere.

At no point did I believe any of the sensations were real, but that didn't stop them from being very unpleasant. It's true that most of them took place when I was outside. I did have a very good environment set up - lava lamp, trip toys, artwork - but a couple of hours in, I heard people outside my room moving things and vacuuming; there was a new guy moving in to the neighbouring apartment. I started to get worried the landlady might drop by and start talking to me, see that I was very clearly high (I'm good at acting sober, but not at the peak!) and kick me out. So I slipped outside and headed to the local national park. I often trip in public, I like to see the scope of the world while in an altered state, so this was nothing I wasn't comfortable with. But I think most of the sensations took place there, especially after the bog. I didn't really walk in there on purpose. By the time I realised what it was, I was turning around to go back.

The bad sensations actually continued until +20 hours after I dosed, which was unsettling, and it kept me awake for ages. Every time I got close to sleep, I'd get a feeling like a pinch behind the eyeball. That really sucks, especially if the same thing is going to happen again next time, because I really, really got somewhere I was trying to go on this last trip, so I want to take 2 tabs next time. But perhaps I should come prepared with a little wine or even Valium to knock me out. (I'm an on-and-off insomniac anyway.)

Yes I did divert my attention from the odd feelings, still though, they kept coming back. It interests me that few others seem to get it. Perhaps it was something to do with my setting after all. I do recall having something similar the first time I smoked weed, only it was constant and a lot worse. I only touched weed once after that, and at a much loser dose.

This is psychological. This would not really be considered "body load" as the term is usually used. On actual high dose LSD (around 1mg +) I have had some weird histamine reactions producing a lot of mucous making it hard to breathe through my nose and slightly itchy but other than that good clean LSD feels fairly benign on my body.

You're just getting shitty crystal homie, that sounds like lavender or maybe even <70% pure. You'll deff get more body load on higher doses but that sounds like dirty love which WILL cause that bodyload rather than an BODYHIGH

Do you have any idea what you're eating? A lottta people don't, im just curious.

p.s. especially on 1.75 hits (even if they're mic'd at like 250 which i'm guessing they're not, probally ~120-150 if they're "above normal") you shouldn't be getting that kinda discomfort. be careful, a mind is a terrible thing to waste.

I had a blotter I'd say was around 100ug's recently, maybe a little more.
I know what you mean by that body load, I had this invisible itch floating around my skin for a good hour of the experience and I couldn't scratch it.

Very interesting visuals that night, but clean acid is so much better. Annoying body loads just put a damper on a trip for me, but I have a rather sensitive body.

As to the purity of this LSD, I've had tabs from this batch before, and tabs from a different batch but the same producer. They've always been remarkably clean - everyone says so. Stomach cramps are minor to non-existent.

It is weird that I felt so uncomfortable. Until I posted this topic, I thought it was just a normal side-effect from higher doses. But I'm pretty sure it's just because I was still a little sick. I'll try again with 2 tabs in a week's time and see how I go, but yeah, you're right, a mind is nothing to fuck around with. But I don't think two of these are gonna drive me nuts when I handled 1.75 just fine.

^well have some xanax on hand, a 20+ hour feeling doesn't sound good/normal/clean. And you telling me it's clean really means nothing because i can't experience the same crystal (nor do i want to 8) ).

Another factor that i think someone above mentioned if your psychological state of mind, i have had amaazzzingggg experiences off this one batch and the exact same stuff has also given me tremors coming down because I was in a bad bad state of mind. Ya gotta be ready to eat before you get down!
