LSD + anti-biotics?

Long time reader first time poster!

I'm on a small dose of anti-biotics at the moment. I'm looking to enjoy a solitary 100micrograms of acid this friday and was wondering if my once daily 300micrograms of anti-biotics will interact with the trip at all? Is it wiser to stay away? I would prefer to trip but as long as there arn't any major interactions.

not exactly sure of the interactions, and im not sure there are many out there who would test this combo out, LOL! seriously, i would just wait. with a potent drug like acid, u might want to wait before u combine that stuff with another potent substance (anti-bio's). its not very good at all to drink on anti-bio's, not sure about acid. best thing to do is wait.... wait till u feel better and then do it.

Yeh that is what my girlfriend said :P. Maybe if i took my last anti-biotic on thursday say at 6am, then dropped the acid on friday at 6pm, it would give me 36 hours since my last dose hopfully reduceing its impact. Probably a question for someone who has done it before, wouldn't dare consume a drink on that mix!

Ok research suggests no interactions but i'm going to ere on the side of caution and not dose the anti that day.

I have taken 5 hits of LSD while on 750mg of Erythromycin, which happens to be one of the strongest anti-biotics out there according to my doctor. It was a prescription for a bad case of pneumonia. I was fine during the trip, my stomach kinda felt raw the next day but I'm not gonna blame that on the drugs.

I did acid on tetracycline. Nothing happened and I did research to my abilities, couldn't find any counterindications.

I took LSD on Bleomycin, Cisplatin and Etoposide - there were no side effects caused through interaction of LSD and the cytostatics - but it´s not a good idea to take LSD for recreation during illness - except for a good reason. I dosed very low - between 100 and 120 µg.

i would NOT SKIP the antibiotics just to take acid

antibiotics require you to stick to the regimen until you complete the whole course. otherwise you only knock down a portion of your infection and let it come back with renewed vigor (and now resistant to antibiotics)

personally i don't think the two will interact at all, but it is known that antibiotics will make birth control pills ineffective if you are a female.

That's a bad idea. When you're prescribed an antibiotic, you NEED to take it as directed. If you skip a dose, it won't be as effective as it needs to be and can allow your infection to come back, but now it will be resistant to antibiotics.

If you're going to not dose anything, skip the LSD. It can wait. The antibiotic can't.

However, LSD does not interact with antibiotics, so you'll be fine taking both the same day.

EDIT - Basically, what the poster above me said. Don't skip the antibiotic.

(sorry greenmeanies - I responded to the post I quoted before reading the rest of the thread.)

I have had 2 hits before now whilst on antibiotics, and personally i dont feel it had any interaction but if your really not sure just wait init man youll have a much better time if your not worrying about them interacting :D

Uh, the side of caution is not taking LSD until your sickness is gone. Not taking prescription antibiotics could have even worse effects -- specifically, the development of resistance, which could easily land you in the hospital for quite a while.

not super proud of this but i took a size-able amount of acid while bedridden on lots of antibotics for a very bad case of pneumonia when i was in college (it helped make being bed-ridden much more enjoyable)

i healed from the pneumonia quite well by the way

ymmv

I took L on the end of an antibiotic cycle, and it turned out fine for me. I was on a fairly small dose of antibiotics as my illness had pretty much healed on its own...I was pretty paranoid during the trip, but it turned out safe for me. Just wanted to add in because I couldn't find anything like this when I was looking.

I don't know how safe it is on every antibiotic or dosage, I took two or so hits of OK stuff on 250 or 300mg of Amoxicillin.

ive just been prescribed erythromycin 500 mg and was thinking of dropping acid tomorrow but after a bit of reading ive read there are dangerous contraindications between a drug prescribed for migrane called ergotamine and erythromycin by increasing the toxicity of ergotamine. Ive also read that ergotamine is used in the production of LSD so I guess that it might still have some sort of toxicity once its converted to LSD. Im not qualified to say it is but im not going to risk the chance that it could be still toxic.

The only issue I see is running your body's defenses down. Taking LSD will interfere with your sleep schedule which is pretty important when your have an infection. Its the same concern with alchohol.

^ agreed.
if you're on antibiotics to begin with, your body obviously needs help in fighting something. don't wear yourself down further, try and just wait it out. you'll probably have a more enjoyable trip if you're in full health.
even if nothing goes wrong, it might weigh on your mind enough to convince yourself that something is wrong.

Do not skip antibiotics! Skip the LSD, or don't, if you must. (There are no interactions that I am aware of, aside from the fact that your body is not in peak condition from whatever you have that requires antibiotics).

Skipping antibiotics is a Bad Thing, because you can feel better when you still need the antibiotic to wipe out the infection - and if you skip a day, you give the infection a chance to get a foothold again, after having artificially selected the bacteria least effected by the antibiotic to reestablish the infection. Don't skip antibiotics.

Aside from the obvious strain one is putting on an already worn down body and possibly increased GI discomfort I don't see any issues.
But better safe than sorry (I'd go for it anyway to be honest...).
