Hey guys, What's going on? I've got a quick question; I couldn't find it using search. I am now almost in the fourth week of taking pristiq, while incidentally a buddy of mine got ahold of some lsd. This will be the first time I've ever done a major psychedelic other than one mushroom trip 2 years ago, and I was just curious as to if the SNRI's have any negative interaction with psychedelics? LSD and SNRI's(Pristiq)

I don't know about Pristiq but I got a rather nasty case of Serotonin Syndrome taking LSD whilst on tramadol which also acts as an SNRI. It was a very, very, very long way from fun and is probably the single most hellish drug experience of my life and I've had a few.
This seems to be an uncommon reaction but it's not impossible. I'd skip the SNRI for 24 hours or so before dosing the acid myself which is what I have done with tramadol since and have had no problems.

I'm not suggesting that SS will definitely result from combining LSD with an SNRI cos it seems to be a rare occurrence, but after what happened to me I wouldn't wish it on anybody so not worth taking the risk however small it may be. Happy tripping

There may be complications when using SNRIs and Lsd. However, I have read TRs of people who have combined the two without complications.
As always, play it safe and use the Lsd by itself

I agree it's unlikely but it caught me totally by surprise and several hours of absolute agony, delirum and incontinence is not a risk I'm taking again even if it is a very small one. It's another one of those things that personal experience casts a shadow over for me

Well, it appears that tramadol is probably a serotonin releasing agent, thus why it caused your serotonin syndrome Shambles. SSRI's are safe to combine with serotonin releasing agents (according to the FAQ on Antidepressants and Drugs, at least), it's usually combining two serotonin releasing agents that gets people into trouble re: serotonin syndrome.
I don't think I've ever heard of someone on SSRI's (or SNRI's) developing serotonin syndrome from taking psychedelics (except for 88brenno's tale). Can you tell us more about that experience 88brenno? It seems unusual for that to happen, but not impossible I suppose.
What dose of Pristiq were you on? 50 mg a day? How long had you been taking it? What dose of LSD (roughly) did you use?

My friend used LSD with an SNRI, not sure if he skipped that day or not. He said he noticed less contentment with LSD and maybe possibly less visuals than the people he was with.
