Over bridge of sighs
To rest my eyes in shades of green
Under dreamin' spires
To Itchycoo Park, that's where I've been

What did you do there?
I got high
What did you feel there?
Well I cried
But why the tears there?
I'll tell you why
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful

I feel inclined to blow my mind
Get hung up feed the ducks with a bun
They all come out to groove about
Be niceand have fun in the sun

Tell you what I'll do (what will you do?)
I'd like to go there now with you
You can miss out school (won't that be cool)
Why go to learn the words of fools?
What will we do there?
We'll get high
What will we touch there?
We'll touch the sky
But why the tears then?
I'll tell you why

It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful

I feel inclined to blow my mind
Get hung up feed the ducks with a bun
They all come out to groove about
Be nice and have fun in the sun

It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
Ha! It's all too beautiful

Small Faces - "Itchycoo Park"

Substances Consumed:

150ug to 200ug of LSD
300ml of 80 proof Whiskey
A few bowls of White Rhino (potent cannabis) over the course of the night

Allow me to introduce myself...

So I've had LSD three times in the last month now, and five times since the summer has begun. Most likely in the next month I will eat LSD another two or three times. Perhaps this is too often, but I really don't care. I personally feel that the negative effects of this chemical are limited to the sleep deprivation caused by the stimulating comedowns.

If there are negative long term effects of moderately excessive psychedelic drug use, I suppose I'll find out.

Anyway, my last trip on LSD (a week and a half ago, or so) was highly anticipated, but a real let down. I wrote about it here, The trip before that was a mild let-down, simply because the setting in which I chose to take the drug limited our possibilities. The trip before that, involving two dragon blotters at a music festival (trip report here ) was nothing short of mind-blowing.

So, one would think it would be a good idea to take some time off from LSD and attempt to regain the magic. In fact, I did think that. But I also thought, "My good friend TS is coming up to visit me for the weekend, and he loves acid, so why not treat him to a few doses?"

It wouldn't be long before we realized that the ingestion of LSD is not without psychedelic consequences.

I was in a pretty bad mood for various reasons up until the point which was designated by myself, TS, and my girlfriend to eat the LSD. I was seriously considering simply getting drunk, but for some reason I decided to eat a tasty microdot. I gave TS two, knowing his tolerance is historically higher than mine. Psilosara ate a microdot as well.

I sort of expected a difficult trip to result from my negative state of mind. For some reason I felt like eating another microdot, so I did. Psilosara also ate another microdot, and TS ate a third.

Over the next hour we sat around discussing our plans for the next year of college. I poured myself a whiskey sour and sipped that while I noticed the early familiar symptoms of LSD present themselves. Quickly, any remnants of my prior bad mood had dissapated.

By the time we were all noticeably quite high from the LSD alone, we decided to move ourselves downstairs to Psilosara's room, where we could enjoy the comforts of couches, pillows, and listen to music. TS, who had eaten his acid a little bit earlier than us, in addition to consuming 50% more LSD, kept saying things like "this is intense!" and staring off at various objects. I thought this was good because TS is usually underwhelmed by psychedelics, rather than the opposite. I knew, having found a single microdot of this LSD to be effective, that I would certainly not be underwhelmed this night either.

And then, in contrast to prior microdot trips which took an unusual four hours to reach peak effects, I started to come up rather quickly myself. I noticed that the light on the ceiling looked strange, and the beams of light seemed to be bending back and forth. Soon the ceiling itself, and most everything else in the room, had come alive with breath and a swaying motion. Wood grains and floor tiles soon turned into flowing patterns.

Around this time I started to experience a little anxiety. Perhaps I was dwelling on what I considered a reckless dive into psychedelia, and combined with the rapidly growing intensity of the trip I thought things might go bad. Actually the nature of my thoughts were fairly rational, and shouldn't have given me much anxiety, except that at this time my thoughts were coming very quickly and it felt like I was assaulting my own mind with the same anxious thoughts over and over again.

I asked Psilosara to play "These Dreams" by the Sim Redmond Band. It's really a beautiful song, and it allowed me to think more slowly to have something so soothing in the background. I sat up on the couch and looked at the other side of the room. The windows were dancing to the music, and the thought occured to me: "It's all in my mind."

Well, no shit it's all in my mind. But for some reason this basic revelation lifted my anxiety completely. I felt great, everything around me looked beautiful, and I was blessed with a temporarily higher state of conciousness.

We went upstairs to make some pasta because we were hungry. For some reason LSD allows me to eat food with great ferocity, even though it doesn't give me the munchies like cannabis can. I made myself another whiskey sour and started drinking it.

By this point the visuals had peaked in intensity. The wood floor was in constant motion and the counter top appeared to move closer to me and became "more 3-D" while patterns inside of other patterns bloomed like flowers and flowed like lava. It was fascinating to watch this for a few minutes. I sat down with TS to eat some pasta and we both commented how we could see the energy vibrating off all the objects around us. This is a visual I always get on doses of LSD above 150ug or so, it's like everything has a neon blue vibrating glow around it.

As I continued to drink whiskey I took notice of the effects it had combined with LSD. Previously I had only had alcohol on an LSD comedown, and enjoyed it very much. Anyway, the alcohol seemed to disinhibit the weirdness and free association of LSD. Basically this meant I could act like a lunatic and have a lot of fun being that way. I was constantly playing little mind tricks on the others, and cracking up hysterically at jokes which were only inside my head.

Psilosara was loving the whiskey combo as well. She was dancing around, smiling a whole lot, and obviously having a great time. After seeing that the bombination was allright, we finally got TS to join us in a drink.

But not before he smoked a couple bongs of White Rhino, got extremely high, and zoned off for quite some time. I, knowing the personal dangers of mixing cannabis and LSD, chose to abstain from the cannabis...

... until we went back downstairs and I had two hits of White Rhino from my bubbler. I knew much more than this would make my heart beat like 150 bpm, and that isn't the kind of thing that's fun monitoring / worrying about when you're quite high on LSD.

I studied the effects of cannabis on LSD, and noticed that they are a direct contradiction, and are opposing forces. The LSD gives you energy and makes your brain work much faster. The cannabis sedates you and dulls the brain to some extent. Combined, the cannabis removes the part of the LSD stimulation which makes you want to move around a lot, but leaves you feeling stimulated in the sense that you can tell your body is being hyperactive. Mentally, the cannabis forced me to dwell on my strange, LSD-inspired thoughts for a much longer time. This inevitably caused a bit more negative or anxiety-inspiring thoughts, and also caused me to talk less.

However the cannabis did make the LSD visuals and mental trip more intense and interesting overall. I was still in great spirits, and happy to have smoked what I considered just the right amount of cannabis to compliment this trip.

After a while of having great fun we decided to watch "O Brother Where Art Thou?" on DVD. Before the movie I thought it was an appropriate time to get rather baked, so TS and I packed up a couple bowls of White Rhino and smoked them. This was probably six good hits for me, enough to get me really stoned even with the LSD. Soon after smoking my visuals got very intense, and if I stared at one spot the entire room would transform into different shapes, textures, and colors. I felt like I was ten feet tall standing above my girlfriend, and my vision looked like it was made of pixels for a while.

Anyway, we sat down to watch "O Brother Where Art Thou?" and proceeded to get even drunker on whiskey. I decided that one way you can tell that the mental changes LSD makes are positive is because movies that are already very good are simply mind blowing. Movies that are stupid to begin with will still suck. Of course watching "O Brother" was incredible... almost as good as the time I watched "Forrest Gump" on LSD ;)

My visuals were still going strong, and the movie on the television was affected by these visuals as well. Everything in the background of the movie would turn into patterns and repeating images, and the bad guy's faces would look extra evil and demonic.

After the movie I was pretty tired, and getting pretty drunk. I decided to turn in, and Psilosara wanted to try to sleep as well. It was probably about 10 or 11 hours since dropping the LSD. Of course it was still running strong in me, but I was drunk enough that I thought I might pass out anyway.

I guess I got a couple hours of patchy sleep that night, who knows. I woke up super tired the next day.

What did I learn?

1. It's all in your head ;)
2. Drinking on LSD takes away the edge and provides a fun element of disinhibition.
3. I like tripping with TS and Psilosara.
4. LSD is still my favorite drug :)

Yet another nice report, I'm so looking forward to trying acid but on experience with mushrooms i find that what you said about complimenting the trip with strong cannabis at the right time is very true; i used to smoke it in the come-up which wasn't great as it clouded the experience too much. Had a mind-blowing trip last night of 7g dry cubensis + MAOIs + 1 bulb of nitrous followed by a hit of salvia 5x then 2 more bulbs. I'll never turn my back on tripping after that. Good report!

Great report. This is just adding to the problem of me not being able to get my hands on any LSD, i can't wait till I do though.

Thanks guys!

I'm off to Phish for the weekend... I'm sure I'll have something to write about when I get back =D

Fantabulous report as always, glad you had a good time :)

Enjoy Phish while you still can!

Your observations about the combination of LSD with cannabis and with alcohol are spot on. I couldn't have described it better myself.

^^ Having been there and done that, I believe there are ,or can be, negative long term effects, depending on your general life trajectory at the time. I'll be interested to see if you find any.
