LSD accidental staring at sun's reflection, eye damage?

Hello everyone,

I am wondering if anyone else has ever accidentally stared at the sun or a reflection of the sun while on acid or any other psychedelics before?

I ask because a couple days ago I was tripping out by a beautiful creek and started to follow some really cool visuals that were dancing atop the water, but as the sun was setting it's reflection off the water moved directly into my vision without me realizing it. As soon as my friend said something and realized it was blinding him too, I realized I had been staring at it way longer than I should have and looked away. Afterwards my vision was off, in terms of color, and there was a giant ring/band of reddish tint around my vision everywhere I looked for the next 15 minutes or so. Color also looked off all over, kind of like an old film strip or something (less contrast, more browns less greens), which tapered off over the course of the next 30 minutes. This was a concerning time period for an another wise quite pleasant trip. Two days later, I must say that my eyes feel a little sensitive. Color seems fine. But while staring into my computer screen at work (for instance, this white text box), I notice that the center of my vision has a very slight heat-stroke-like effect (flashing/pulsing harder to focus than normal, especially over white backgrounds). I can read detail fine in the physical world and my vision still feels close to 20/20 like it normally is.

So I'm seeking opinion here, does anyone think that I did permanent eye damage? It was probably only about 10-15 seconds of direct staring into the reflection on the water, with about 30-45 seconds of total time spent staring at a too bright section of the water... but I'm just guessing, as before that I was entranced by some very cool visuals that didn't *seem* to be blinding at all and time on acid isn't always easy to recall. From what I read online, 30 seconds of directly staring into the sun or its reflection can cause permanent damage to the eye, but on acid the pupils tend to be really dilated, which seems like it would increase the damage/risk.

Thanks in advance for any and all opinions or experiences related to the matter that are shared.

I'd say you were just tripping man. It really seems that way from reading what you said. Acid does stuff like this.

Your lingering "after effects" sound a lot like "HPPD".

Stop worrying. :)

You'll be fine. With the exception of incredibly intense light sources (lasers) or continuous, direct staring at the sun, temporary exposure to intense light will have no detrimental effects.

This is normal, your rod and cone cells get temporarily desensitized from intense light exposure.
