Let me start by saying that I'm pretty inexperienced with high doses of lsd. I have only tripped maybe 3 times before this on lsd, and it was one blotter each time. That's really all I feel I need to enjoy myself. If I were to be looking for an extremely intense trip, I would probably only do it in my home, by myself. I understand that most people say you need a sitter, but if I can handle 10 grams of shrooms, mescaline, and ayuasca by myself, I feel confident in my choice to trip by myself. Even when I take small amounts of mushrooms I feel a little bit uncomfortable when there's someone there with me not tripping. On lsd it's completely different, however. I don't mind people at all. I'm not sure what I'm rambling on about, so I apologize and I will get on to my trip report!
I had gotten 3 hits of some pretty high quality acid and was waiting for a good, fun activity to come along that would be greatly enhanced by the effects of lsd. When my good friend from Texas came down for spring break and asked to go sight seeing in Hollywood I knew that it was going to be a great time. His plane arrived and he drove to my house with his girlfriend. I asked him what he wanted to do the next day and he said he wanted to go to Universal Studios. Damn. What a perfect place to take acid. If you have never been to Universal Studios you won't get the visual that people that have been there will, but I will try to give good imagery. All of the rides are themed rides, which makes everything 100x better. (I'll actually add a little section at the end with pictures of key areas.)
The next day we got in the car and headed to the park. I dosed after we smoked a blunt in the parking lot and we got out of the car and enter Universal City Walk. City Walk is basically a strip mall, but with eccentric looking shop entrances and signs. They decided to eat before entering the park so we sat down for probably about 30 minutes. The walk to the park was maybe another 10. We got right in and I started to feel the effects. There is a live action Water World show right by the entrance and we started with that. I'm glad it worked out that way, because by the time the show was over I was tripping pretty hard. I advised them that we should go to The Simpsons ride next. When we got to the entrance I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It wasn't anything new to me, but in the eyes of the lsd the giant Krusty the Klown head was just too funny to not stare at. As I got over that and we got into line (The prompter stating that is was a 30 minute wait) I began people watching for the majority of the line. The euphoria and patterns that I was seeing can not be accurately described, but I'm sure if you've taken acid before you know what I'm talking about. I stared at this family which had two moms, and 4 little black children. They just seemed peculiar to me from the start, and I ended up being on the same "car" as them for the ride. The inside portion of the ride consists of carnival booths with Simpsons characters in them. I paid no attention to the words that were being said, rather I just stared in awe at the realistic 3D effects the booths had. We got into the waiting room and the car held 8 people. Four in front, four in back. One of the Mom's seemed very skeptical about having her kid sit in the back with us, asking over and over "Are you okay honey? Are you sure? You'll be okay?" The kid had no problem but the Mom just wouldn't let him be okay with it haha. She even offered to not ride the ride and have him take her place. Eventually she just let it go. The ride started and we were lifted up into this insanely gigantic room with what I believed to be a 360 degree 3D screen. (For those of you that don't know, the ride is a simulation. But not a shitty simulation. With the budget that the park has they definitely went all out. It's as good as it gets.) I have been on the ride before, and I know what happens/what is happening, but it's all new to me. I have never had so much fun on any ride, ever. At one point a big ball from a crane is rolling down the tracks toward you as you're "going backwards" and I couldn't contain myself. I was screaming the whole damn ride. Not out of fear, obviously, but out of pure enjoyment. The ride ended and all I could say was "Holy shit you guys, acid was made for this fucking place."
Directly after that we went down to the lower part of the part, and the Mummy ride had just opened. There was no line at all. We entered the line and were on within a minute. This ride is an indoor roller coaster, starting out slow and accelerating as soon as you hit a certain point. When you start you are faced with mummified corpses and arms coming from the ceilings, bodies falling from the side, red eyes in the wall etc. When it speeds up you ride through the dark and there are flashing signs with mummy type creatures as you turn corners and what not. You then slow down and face face a wall with scarab beetles and blowing air simulating them crawling on your feet. After that you start to fall backwards and do the fast part of the ride backwards until you reach where you started, and obviously get off. My friends thought that I wouldn't be able to handle myself, but I had no fear or worries the entire time. Themed rides are the best on psychedelics.
We then went to Jurassic Park, but I feel like I'm just describing the rides and not my trip, so I won't walk you through it haha. I'll just link videos of the rides at the end.
I was still tripping pretty hard when they said they wanted to walk through the House of Horrors. I had told them at the beginning of the day that I was going to sit that one out when it came time. Well when it did finally become time I decided I was in a good enough mood to handle myself. This isn't a ride, it's just a walk through maze with people in costumes jumping out of every corner. I'm fine with it sober, but it still scares me. I mean, that's why it's there, is to scare people. Loud noises, sudden movements, and scary fucking costumes aren't exactly ideal when you're on acid. I walked through it with my heart pounding the whole time. All I could think about was getting to the end. Finally, after a large man dressed as leather face wielding a chainsaw chased me out, I came back to reality. I didn't have an absolutely terrible time, but it wasn't really ideal either. I don't suggest anyone do that while on any psychedelic, which kind of goes without saying, but I'm glad I was able to handle myself.
We decided to leave after this, because it was still light and we wanted to go to Venice beach. So when we got to the car I took another hit and we were off. We got to Venice, smoked a lot of high quality weed and hash, and had a fantastic time. I went swimming in the ocean as I peaked in just my boxers and I didn't regret it at all. I walked along the board walk and looked at the beautiful glass bongs and pipes that were there and felt the happiest I've felt in a long time. I was starting to reach enlightenment, I was starting to see beauty in everything that I passed. The palms trees, the sand, the graffiti, the homeless people being happy where they were... Everything. The visuals on this trip really were incredibly astounding, but the mental effects I had were far superior to anything visual could ever give me. I was just experiencing love for what it was. Well I bought a bowl, and we drove home. I stayed up and smoked some weed, and continued to trip until I feel asleep. It was probably the best trip I have ever had.
