Lowering Benzo Tolerance

to lower a benzo tolerance you need to abstain, there is no other way.

possibly taking Grapefruit juice with it would make it to where you could take less, but it wouldn't lower your tolerance. I'd also like to point out that I'm not sure if the grapefruit juice works for ativan, I do know it works for Xanax and Valium as it even says to stay away from it in the pamplet that comes with the drugs. (this does not work with opiates, regardless of how many posts says it does)

Um, like Derrick and phatass said....don't take them for a little bit?

Taking a little break will always lower tolerance to anything. Tolerance to most drugs drops very quickly. Sometimes I run out of my Ultram (tramadol hcl) early and have to go 2-3 days without. It's rough due to withdrawal, but when I get 'em back I need smaller doses and I can just tell tolerance dropped dramatically just by those 2-3 days of staying away.

Benzos can have some pretty dangerous withdrawal, so be careful with stopping for a few days. And Ativan (lorazepam) is a short-acting benzo, so withdrawal would come on quickly if you're a dependent.

alright, thanks for your rresponses. I also read that lorazepam is the only water-soluable benzo? i dont think this is true, but can someone clarify?

also, would excersising while abstaining help lower it? i did that to lower my weed tolerance, but weed is stored in the fat cells. but would it work with benzos?

I think ativan is water soluable to to some degree. It isn't the only one, but it is true most of the more common ones are not. I don't think exercise will help, other than being good for you.

damn, i really need to get my tolerance down, im sick of taking 5mg and feeling slightly "chill"

Time away from them will do it. Trust me.
Don't take any for a few days, maybe more. Then test the waters with a smaller dose. You'll see.

Only time will help.....and alot of it. Benzo tolerance can be semi-permanent imo.

Really?
Thank god opioid tolerance isn't like that. Just taking a couple day break from my tram and my tolerance drops dramatically. Granted, it goes back up quickly, but 2 days of hellish w/d is worth a week of lower tolerance

would snorting it do anyting? since snorting goes to bloodstream, it comes on quicker....but this might not be the case with benzos

LYRICA is the key! I was a heavy benzo addict ( ~ 7mg xanax/Lorazepam, twice a day or more) and I got prescribed some Lyrica for nerve pain, immediately I went to erowid to see if it got any recreational potential ( and yes it does ) but I read a really interesting article.

At first I was a bit skeptical but when I tried it, it worked. Now I took my Lorazepam as prescribe.

edit: and it took about 1-2 month only
