You may be surprised to hear this, but pure LSD does not produce any body load. The muscle cramps are from the impurities. I know many claim nothing is as active as LSD, but that is not true. These impurities, in combination with LSD, are very active. ergotamine is dosed at 1mg, but only has a 5% bioavailability and is highly bound to plasma protein. I suspect the LSD inhibits CYP3A4, like most ergoloid do, and displaces impurities from plasma protein, making them available to the body. They might not make you trip, or stop a headache, but they can ruin a trip. I think that some may actually enjoy the speedy trip they induce and it may potentiate LSD, hence some less ethical cooks leave them in.ErgicMergic said:Oh, I meant for muscle aches due to vasoconstriction. If you scroll up, you'll see I've never dosed amps, but I get this problem from high doses of LSD, usually from 2 hits or more. I take beta blockers now, I wasn't physically dependent on them my last trip, so I'll be careful with dosing it now. AFAIK, if you dose a beta blocker before you're stimulated, you should be fine. It's when you're already stimulated that it can cause risk of stroke iirc.
I get the drug side effect argument, but my monthly dosing of LSD is rare enough to not worry about that.
Caffeine is never ingested while I'm on LSD, and I don't use nicotine. I think these aches are definitely due to vasoconstriction, like you pointed out, since smoking cannabis eases them (vasodilator). It's not that big a deal, it's just after the peak when my neck and back start to ache, pretty badly, seriously distracting me from my trip. It's bad enough for me to consider dosing Kratom, but I never do since doing addictive drugs during tripping might engrain them in to our thought patterns, since the brain's plasticity is pretty high during a psychedelic experience; I've broken addiction with LSD.
Beta blockers are the LAST thing that will counteract the impurities. The prescribing information for ergotamine say"The beta-blocker Inderal (propranolol) has been reported to potentiate the vasoconstrictive action of CAFERGOT® (ergotamine tartrate and caffeine tablets, USP) by blocking the vasodilating property of epinephrine." No beta-blockers with stimulants still applies. In fact, I suspect one of the impurities may have a beta-blocking effect, potentiating the adrenalic effects of the other impurities; Many ergoloid are mixed agonist/antagonist.
You could still try alkyl nitrites, they can counteract ergotamine, but some love them, many really hate them because it can cause a bad headache. It probably will potentiate the trip. I wouldn't know, no porn/smoke shops seem to sell them where I live. The aspirin couldn't hurt, but I don't think it will stop the cramps. I think the stimulant effect of kratom may make the cramps worse, but who knows, maybe it's a good combination.
