Harm Reduction Low Quality mid-west Tar. Anything I should know?

Hey I just moved from the east coast to Colorado Springs and I have been buying black tar dope in the form of 'balloons.' This tar started out as the typical sticky gooey stuff I have seen on TV (quite different from east coast powder!) but now the stuff I get isn't sticky at all. It crumbles to the touch, is very dark and doesn't seem to be of the highest quality.

I put about half the powder into a spoon, mix it up with 5 units and start a fire underneath. I then suck it up with a cotton, clean the spoon, squirt it back into the spoon, toss the spike i used in the initial mixing and sucking step, get a new spike and new cotton and load it into there, and then put it into my vein.

Is there anything I am missing here or anything I should know about IV'ing this low quality tar?

I heard some BS that the low quality stuff around there is what is left over after the morphine has been extracted from opium.

Don't IV tar if you like your veins.

You're not missing a lot. With low quality tar the best option is to filter, filter, filter. It can be frustrating, but its the best way to reduce the harm done to you by the tar to your veins.
