Low opiate tolerance. Hydrocodone + promethazine

I have been an IV opiate user for over 2 years. I have been clean from opiates for about 5 months now. The other night I had my first experience with opiates since. I took 30 mgs of hydro and I came up as usual. I started to peak and felt really good, though itching excessively. I peaked for about 20-30 minutes then the effects seemed to almost entirely deminish. About 15 minutes into the peak I took another 30 mgs of hydro. It did not make me feel any more high, it just exacerbated the itching.
My question is this.
I am acquiring 60 mg of hydocodone tonight. I also have 4 25 mg tablets of promethazine. I wanted to know what would be a good, safe, but very pleasurable mixture of these two? Is there any way to prolong the actual high I get with the peak? I really wanted to somehow make this into 2 doses. Is there an effective way I could do so?

i am not a fan of promethazine, in general, or with opiates. some people are. it basically increases the sedation but not the euphoria. so if that sounds like an effect you want, go for it, but dose on the low side with prometh.

look into cimetidine/tagamet and/or white grapefruit juice. i find 800mg -1000mg of cimetidine to greatly potentiate opiates (hydrocodone included) and to increase the peak and total duration.

be careful with combining downers, the synergy is more powerful than you would expect and is the most common way to die from OD with opiates.

if you got a good peak off 30mg, i would not recommend taking much more than that at once. (as youve learned redosing is worthless) and i wouldnt recommend anything more than a low dose of promethazine along with it (if you want to pursue that kind of high)

I definitely wouldn't take more than 25mg of promethazine, and yes, you can safely combine the two, as opioids are often prescribed/taken in conjunction with an antihistamine in clinical practice. But as stated above, it will only affect the symptomatic side effects like subduing itchiness and increasing sedation. This is not to say it is pointless or not pleasant, because it can be nice to have that extra sedation sometimes, and itch reduction is an obvious plus. It just depends on what you're looking to achieve.

Due to your not-so-distant history of IV opiate use and your recent hydrocodone experience, I would suggest managing your expectations. From what I can infer by what you've told us regarding your tolerance, I'd take the whole 60mg of hydrocodone at once, and if you choose, add 12.5mg or 25mg of promethazine. While a single [60mg] hydrocodone dose is not going to produce the magical off-the-chart opiate euphoria you're wishing for, dividing that quantity into two separate doses will almost surely result in two mediocre letdown buzzes.

If you want a true potentiator use an enzyme inhibitor like cimetidine (an antacid), which targets the cytochrome P450 group, including CYP2D6 and 3A4 which are the two enzymes primarily responsible for the metabolization of opioids.
