Low dose psychedelics as nootropics

Hi everybody,

I have my fair share of experience and knowledge of the compounds discussed, but I have become very interested in the possible benefits or practical uses of these compounds in much smaller dosages. For instance alcohol can be used in heavy amounts to get incredibly intoxicated, but a very small dose everyday can help with heart health etc. I have done experiments using very small amounts of marijuana to help with problem solving, writing, school work. I am looking for everyones opinion on using these compounds for nootropic effects, and if you have tried them in this way, was your experience beneficial or not. I want to keep this discussion focused around tryptamines, phenethylamines, and potentially ergolines like lsd etc.

I've used small amounts of 2C-D for that purpose a few times in 2004, and a couple months ago. There was some benefit at under 10mg, but certainly it had nothing on adderall or piracetam (or both together).

There have been a few posts about using low dose 2C-P like this. I've not tried it myself but I can imagine it working in such a capacity. I've combined it with adderall at around 2mg and the experience was like a much richer, "full-bodied" version of the amphetamine high. The combo felt too good to be functional for the most part, though. Another candidate is 3C-P, which is stimulating, as well as being about as mildly psychedelic as a trip drug gets. The thing is, a lot of psychedelics are 5HTB agonists, so using them daily like most use nootropics, even at a low dose, could conceivable lead to increased risk of cardiac valvular fibrosis.

I also think that even at low doses, tolerance builds a little bit too acutely to use psychedelics as a routine/long term nootropic.

Additionally, I didn't really find microdoses THAT nootropic. I'd say it was a mood/outlook enhancing experience moreso than actually enhancing my intellectual/cognitive faculties. At very low doses of 2c-e my day would brighten considerably and feel a lot more fulfilling and interesting but I don't think I got much better at doing intellectual work.

Creativity, on the other hand, definitely enhancement there.

hmm good point, I guess one would have to speak with a highly qualified medical professional to assess if low doses of a 5-HT agonist would be safe in the first place. I have tried most of the racetams, and have found some of them to be moderately effective like pramiracetam, which seemed to subtly enhance color clarity. It seems as though these drugs are indeed special for changing our reference frame and opening our minds up to new or "creative" ideas, but lack the practicality of being used as a cognitive enhancer. May see how small doses of miprocin and Psilacetin effect cognitive abilities
