Low dose of Seroquel?

Why is it not recommended to be on a low dose of Seroquel for longer than a month or so? Does it have some adverse effects on the brain or something?

I was put on 25 mg at the end of July, initially for sleep mainly. However, my psychiatrist has figured that I probably have a mood disorder and wants me to increase the dosage slowly (so that I could function at school and work without being drowsy as fuck I guess) to 37 mg and then 50 mg in the next few weeks.

I am aware of the different effects of the drug at different dosages (the thing about it not being much of an antipsychotic at doses below a few hundred milligrams). I'm just a bit concerned why the antihistamine-level dosage is considered harmful for extended periods and is there any way to avoid possibe issues?

I know at larger(antipsychotic) doses can cause Parkisan's due to dopamine receptor blockade but considering that low doses(25-100mg) act as a strong sedative antihistamine I don't see how it would be that dangerous.

Maybe its the unpleasant side effects?

Yes it is very unpleasant. The sedative effects will wear off. And it will disturb you physically in a weird way. I have had mild panic attacks from seroquel. This was with low and high doses.
