Opioids Low Dose Naltrexone

-Rosee,

I have been on Bupe for almost 4 years now, started @ 32mgs and now am down to 6mgs/day. I will be off the Bupe completely soon and a daily low dose of naltrexone was suggested to me by my Dr as a way to make the transition from Bupe to nothing easier, but I haven't trIed it yet so I can't really help with your question...

However, I was told that the naltrexone, while not even a partial opiate agonist, nonetheless stimulates the opiate receptors in a PLEASANT fashion. This seems so counterintuitive to me but I trust my Dr's opinion.

Are you thinking about the naltrexone for the same reason? What, if anything have you heard about it's effects? And do you, or anyone else, know of someone who is or who has taken a daily low dose of naltrexone and what their experience(s) was like?

Hey there, I have never been prescribed the low dose naltraxone therapy for pain-managment. But I have done it on my own.

I find the best way for it to keep your tolerance low to opiates, i get the 50mg naltraxone pills. I take 1/8 (3-4mg)of the pill at night and it doesnt give me any type of withdrawl then I can go ahead and take a heavy dose of opiods the NEXT day and get amazing results, with not as much dope.

I have an off/on habbit ill go a few months without doing anything, then binge for a month :! I wouldnt recommend trying this unless your. prepared for possible acute withdrawl from poor dosing, consulting your doctor.

I read an article on here several months back about it altering receptor behavior, It does work but its a different dosing for everyone.

Be careful

Thank you both for your responses.

Waldo777, I was hoping to try the LDN to hopefully help with opiate cravings and for energy and other benefits I have heard about. I have heard you need to be off all opiates for up to 2 weeks before going on the LDN as it will send you straight into withdrawal otherwise.

I have subscribed to a LDN newsgroup and been in touch with a few people who are on it and it has mixed reviews. I don't think its the magic pill I thought it would be but its worth giving it a try if it will help.

The other issue is obtaining it here in Australia. I have not brought it up yet with my doctor as I'm not sure he would be experimental enough to try it. Apparently you can buy the 50mg naltrexone tablets and break it down easily enough just by mixing it in a 50ml bottle of water and taking around 4.5ml of the water each night. Was going to give that a try but not sure which online pharmacies are geniune. Another site I know of which is genuine sells the 4.5mg tablets but they are a bit pricey.

Thanks again.

Been on them twice .Was in a detox place for 5 days off all gear and then take 25mg then 50 mg the next day. Felt on a real downer for a long time and dreamed of being back on the 'H' Plan !!!!

LOL geordieal! But I am sorry to hear you were on a downer from the naltrexone. I wonder if a lower dose of around 4.5mg would have this same effect though?

So you were still craving opiates at this high dose then, geordieal?

I was on 50mg a day for a lil bit, but oh man it's torturous if you have ANY signs of opiates within your system. I took one by accident, well not accident, but to get my levels up for the doctors test, while I was still dependent on OXY. Let me tell you, STUPIDEST THING ANYONE, probably, COULD EVER DO!! I almost called the ambulance on myself, but I stuck it out for the agonizing 8-9 hours it took to pass through my system, but it felt fucking wonderful when I was through them.. It is pure hell, if you want to get anyone back (I mean like, this is close to death! I wouldn't advise this against anyone depressed in the least). I probably lost about 8-10lbs between vomit, urine, salive, and fecal matter, oh and sweat!

Stay away!!
