Opioids Low Dose Naltrexone + Opiate Use

After reading a blog on EDS (www.prohibitionkills.com), I thought the symptoms definitely hit home with me. I've lived with depression all my life and tried all the garden variety anti-depressants (SSRIs, Tricyclics, etc), but nothing gave me any sort relief. Of course, once I discovered opiates, I finally felt "normal." I've been using them on the weekends for about 9 months now (Heroin and Oxycontin), so I get at least 2 days of relief. The only problem is that it's starting to cause an even WORSE case of depression during the week (not surprisingly), and I don't really want to have to depend on opiate use to enjoy life.

However, after learning about LDN from the blog, I decided to seek out as much information as I could. Luckily, I was actually able to convince my doctor to prescribe 10 50mg Naltrexone tablets. I plan on starting the LDN next week, but will my Friday and Saturday use of opiates cause any problems? I've read that people who are physically dependent on opiates need to abstain for a week or two before starting LDN, otherwise they'll put themselves into precipitated withdrawals, but I'm wondering if I would have the same problem with weekend-only use? If my last opiate use occurs on Saturday, would I be able to start the LDN treatment Monday night? Or should I wait until later that week?

I imagine such a low dose of Naltrexone wouldn't cause anything too horrific for someone that isn't physically-dependent, but I'd rather be safe than sorry

PS: I hope to eventually stop using opiates all-together if my LDN experiment works, but I won't be able to pick up my prescription until Monday so I plan on still using opiates over the weekend.

Anyway, Naltrexone is a life saving wonder drug! Seriously. It completely erased my addiciton! LDN is also very useful and it may helpo your depression, but first you need to be treated with full dose naltrexone for at least 3 months. During this time you need to manage your depression as best you can without drugs, the idea is since you used opiates to self medicate depression (same exact thing I did), your depression is now tied to opiate use. So whenever you use, the opiates remind your body of the depression, and when you get depressed you crave opiates. Being clean isn't enough because your body's endorphins stimulate opiate receptors, and while you cant notice this it is enough to keep your addicition and depression "alive". By taking naltrexone for months, you completely block these receptors and deal with your depression so that the connection between depression and opiate use gets erase, along with your addiction and possibly your depression.

Also, you need the shot. With the pills if you forget a dose you can really set yourself back, you need 24/7 receptor blockade. Also you will prob have a hard time just like I did with the pills because its so easy to skip a dose when you wanna use. With the shot your set for the month once you get it.

After this, then you can try LDN. You can really save your life and even improve it here but you have to be smart and do things the right way. Mention this to your doc.
