Hello Everybody!

Quimby's the name, chronic pain's my game. No really, I am SO happy and relieved to find people who are open to discussing difficult, stressful, and personal topics without judgment. I have tried to talk to so many doctors and professionals, even people I know and often--especially lately--they look at me like I have three eyes.

I'm hoping to address some issues as opiate usage, akathisia, medical cannabis anxiety, guilt, and maybe on the lighter side...music, food, cooking, rants, and life in general. I've been doin' a little lurking and I think I'll mosey over to the adoption page and if anyone might know of people to steer me in the right direction (so I don't keep walking around in the dark bumping my head into the wall), I would be forever grateful.

Thank you and I hope to meet a lot of real souls out there. Glad to be here and thanks again for having me.

Hi Quimby, & welcome to BL. I just saw your post over in the adoption thread, thought I'd respond to you here. Happy to adopt, though to PM you'll have to get your post count up to fifty.

You could start your own thread, just put in the homeless forum if you're unsure where to post it, I generally do. The mods will move it to the appropriate section. Recently I've been posting frequently in the Australian pain management thread, & I check in at least daily.

Thanks for saying hi. What kind of pain do you suffer from, how long etc?

Thanks Smoky, I appreciate you and the others here that help people more than you'll ever know. I will take you up on asking and I promise I won't be a pain too much. Sometimes just talking to someone who has gone through--or is going through some of the same stuff--is a great stress reliever all by itself.

Best,

Q

Hey RTP, very grateful for your response and willingness to help. I definitely will be hitting you up with some questions, but I won't over burden you...I promise. And I'm really not a big downer either, just going through some low points. I'm actually a pretty happy and easy going person.

Well, my problems the main one if solved, would probably make everything else (relatively speaking) fall into place It would be nerve pain and akathisia. The other stuff would be chronic back pain since 99,' knee pain (meniscus surgery), shoulder (rotator and partial collarbone removal)...whew, and the addiction from all the Percocet and morphine BS, and alcohol. I'm cutting back quite a bit, but as always...and I'm sure you have personal experience, there's more. How about you? When and what became an issue for you, and I don't blame you if you want to wait maybe for the PM's. Thank you again R.

Hey Quimby, I'm a pretty happy & easygoing person myself,- pain & addiction = pretty miserable @ times :/

Check out my previous posts as I've recently laid it out in the Aussie pain mgmt thread.

Akathisia, I had to look that one up lol, do you also have a mental illness/depression? Nerve pain I can totally relate to, I have random but semi regular flare ups.

I was struck almost instantly with pain that made me move like a ninety yr old. There's no answers for why, it took a long time to diagnose, but I have a few types of arthritis & a pain disorder.

That was almost ten yrs ago, the addiction side didn't rear it's ugly head until a cpl of years back. I still call it psuedo addiction, as I can't & won't bring it up with my doctors. Where I need more pain relief then is prescribed, hence take more. It's not simply about catching a buzz. Although the temptation is always there.

So, what/where is your nerve pain? I have sciatica & also suffer central sensitisation. Who do you see other than your GP?

Ask anything, if I've been through it (probably), I'll answer anything as clearly as possible. One thing that gives me a semblance of self in this whole charade is if I can ever help anybody else out.
