Lost..take a year off?

I went straight through college after high school and kind of regret it. If your parents insist I would take one or two of the required classes untill you really know what you want to do with your life. I really wasn't ready to finish my program when I got towards the end of it so I just got a degree and don't use it so now I have to go back to get a usefull degree. Now that I am back in school it is hard because I am not making nearly as much money and don't feel like doing homework. I think the best idea is to take one or two classes just to try and figure things out and get electives out of the way. Even if you take underwater basket weaving it wil probably count as an elective somwhere along the lines when you decide what you want to do with your life. I hope that makes sense

Have you tried approaching them like an adult? I had a difficult time, myself, telling my parents that I wasn't ready to be in college. It's really hard, but I think that's where I finally learned to stand up for myself, as an adult, to my parents.

That's exactly right, eras3r. I talked to my parents about it in person rather than on the phone and it seemed to help. I calmly and patiently explained my thoughts on the issue. It also helped that one of their friends was there who took a semester off, so he was on my side, heh.

I had a problem with this, I needed to get money to fix my car at the time.. So I skipped one spring semester and really got my shit together.

I used to have problems with being short sighted, but after taking that 1 semester off everything clicked and I had a better idea of what I wanted to do with my life and then made up the lost semester over the summer.

Not saying this will work for everyone, but it sounds like you are where I was at and just need to take a hard look at what you want to do.(Which in the end helped motivate me a lot)

Hope that helps.
