Hey,

I am 100% positive this is due to anti-depressants, I simply don't enjoy sex, even when I cum (Always do by the way, I know it is a problem when on SSRIs)

I stopped taking effexor around 11 months ago because I just hated it with a passion, it was the worst thing I ever did in my life and it messed me up so much. I was also taking a few other tablets before effexor, around 1 year in total on anti-depressants.

Since that, I have had this problem, I can cum without a problem, normal sex, but I don't get any pleasure from it at all.
I don't know if this has to do with neurology, maybe wrong serotonin or dopamine levels?

I do live with my girlfriend and we have sex, but I find it pointless, for me anyway.

Has anyone had this after SSRIs or other anti-depressants?
Has anything helped?

Yep, can identify with you.
SSRIs kill your libido and if you do manage to get that loving feeling those damn drugs make it more difficult to reach orgasm but also reduce intensity of the orgasm.
I am speaking from years of experience.
.......and found Effexor Xr the worst one to kill the passion.
:(

Yep...you're certainly not the only one. I was on anti-depressants a few years ago and it took me a year or two for things to get entirely back to normal. I didn't find any solution other than just wait for it to get better, unfortunately...but if it's any consolation, do know that it should get better eventually :\

Oh yeah, I have been for a couple years. I took them when I was 14-15 and things were back to normal by the time I was 17. It's really, really annoying but at least you know it's not permanent :)

I too experienced sexual side effects for about 2 years after I stopped taking citalfopram for 3 years.

It does get better!

Thanks for the replies.

Have you talked to a doctor about this?

No...I felt bad enough posting this on here really...

I also had citalopram.. I had effexor at the highest dose, I can't remember what..I know it was at least 275mg...it could have been more but I just can't remember.

Worst tablets I ever took.
I went off it cold turkey...Such a bad mistake..

Why do you feel bad posting about it on here? Nothing to be ashamed of.

Are you still depressed? Losing enjoyment in sex is definitely a symptom of depression. It might be that you need something to alleviate your depression first.

SSRI's are known to have a negative effect on libido and sexual pleasure.

at the same time if you are depressed that also kills your sex drive.

how is your mood at the moment?

in all honesty i don't see what a doctor can do to restore your libido. it will return in time but these drugs play havoc with your sex drive.

give it time

I too experienced gnarly withdrawal symptoms from SSRIs, the only reason I made it thru was the fact that I began abusing opoids, dot reccomend that route. Taper that shit!
