Loss of magic?

I used MDMA for the first time about 6 months ago, and have done it about once a month since. Every experience up until the one I had last night were the most intense, spiritual, emotional experiences of my life. My first few trips were just with my friends in small groups and it felt like we were all learning so much about each other even though we were already pretty close. I remember my first time rolling I felt as if a 4 hour trip wasn't enough because I had so much to talk about :D.

Last night me and some friends went to go get more from our friend but it wasn't the same stuff (it was still powder, but much more refined than the crystalline substance we had before). He had told us it was a higher grade so my expectations were very high. Once we dropped and I was starting to feel the buzz, I was surprised at how calm it was. It was still basically the same high but not quite as overwhelming, the urge to talk was there but not near as strong. Later on we did another hit and it hit harder than the first, but still relatively calm compared to my earlier trips.

I heard people talk about loss of magic but I thought it took a while, or that you had to do it all the time. I did speed the night before last and didn't sleep and I'm wondering if that had some effect on my roll, or if it's something to do with the actual substance.

There are a variety of possibilities.

- Perhaps you got mephedrone or methylone or another analogue instead of mdma.
- Perhaps the speed drained your serotonin levels.
- Perhaps it was lack of sleep.

If you have any friends who are rollers perhaps have them try the new powder and see what they think.

Would the dosage of mephedrone or methylone be around the same as MDMA? Just wondering because I had a similar experience.

loss of magic is definitely real and to me it seems dependent on 1) how many times you have rolled in your life (4 experiences, and the mental state induced by mdma is no longer so novel as to have that 'intense, spiritual' feeling), 2) how often you've been doing molly (i shot up ~2 x 50mg everyday for a week) = burned my receptors, probably quite neurotoxic, and by the end the 'intense omfg molly' feeling was not present at all... rather the sedated bliss of pure molly with no physical side effects [tweak etc which i'm sensitive to], and 3) cross-tolerance from (meth)amphetamines / phenethylamines / tryptamines / ergolines / any 5HT2a agonist. just my two cents.

We have no idea what happened or what the substance was because you didn't test it. Buy a test kit.

This is exactly it. It's possible you got something completely different than the other times and you simply didn't know it. It could've been all sorts of things, but speculation is simply that -- speculation. I'd highly recommend looking into a test kit =) You can find some at http://dancesafe.org/shop/index.php?page=shop/browse&category_id=34855bad041ac0de73e8658e0aa8a0a5 . Hope things work out better next time!! =)

Thanks for all the insight but I think it was just bad timing. My friend came over last night and railed about 130mg and he was rollin his ass off :D I think I will look into one of those test kits though...

ive done mdma tons of times but honestly after your first few rolls, that SPARK and amazingness of mdma fades and ull just be...well rolling, without the intense memorable expierience.

Honestly thats just the way it is.

Sounds like my experience last night. My post is here- with all the details: http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/showthread.php?t=511323
I did some research and I'm almost positive I was given MDEA, not MDMA, which gives a weak, less empathetic, version of the effects of MDMA- and doesn't last as long. Most people usually say that it makes them feel a bit stoned and lazy, and not as talkative- which I definitely experienced.

Not that this means anything, because I'm not sure how much the appearance of the powder can be augmented, or what else was in it, but it was a fine powdery substance with a very very slight orange/yellow tint- could maybe be considered an off-white.
