Losing your soulmate

How can one person evoke such smiles on my face?
How can one person bring so much sadness into my life?
The girl who has been the focal point of my life for so long, does she know the emotion she provokes when words such as "I love you" are uttered?
Does she know the influence she holds over me every time she holds me?
Does she know the melancholy she causes me when she simply ignores me, tosses me away as if i'm a piece of litter.
We have shared stars, agreed that we are soulmates, and that life can only be shared with one another, but its not enough.
Where are those eyes that used to search deep into my soul. Where are the words that used to evoke such passion it could cause tears? The foundations are breaking, and my hands are tied.

Once I believed that I had lost my one true soulmate. I cried. I also sat alone in a dark apartment smoking weed and drinking whiskey from a big bottle.
Time has elapsed since then. She is still in Boston I assume. She mailed me on my last birthday this past August. I was happy to hear from her.
What to do?
Nothing. Just try to suck it up and survive this lonely time. We've all more than one soulmate in my opinion. You'll happen upon another if you open your heart again.

Thanks heaps for the kind words guys, i didnt know any aussies came in here!!
Ive come to realise that it doesnt really matter. Spend time with the people you are closest to and share and appreciate every moment you have because you dont know if it will be the last you see of them. Dont get hung up on petty issues, they are just not worth it.
I had a HUGE talk to the girl who these words are about, and i'm so glad I did. We sorted everything out and I feel very secure within myself about the future, whether it involves her or not.

Two things. I am glad to see more Aussie's. We have so much to learn from you. I learned that from another Aussie.

I can say I have been there. 10 years worth. And seeing it crumble was not easy. Remember the good times, smile and move on. It is and will be hard. It will get easier with time and friends. Keep that chin up and smile. Dont be a whinger.

Though this is one of those topics I really know nothing about. I do however wanted to comment on it... It's really crummy to hear someone who's in pain especially if it concerns a significant other. I believe I've had my fair shares breakin hearts and getting my heart broken. It really can be a life changing experience. The emptiness eventually goes away and you will be stronger. Perhaps I'm already telling you things you may already heard, But just remember you cannot worry about the things you cannot change...
