Hi all I am posting this because I think it might help prevent overdoses and it may help people get more out of their OpanaER. I am talking specifically about the ER formulations of Opana because they have a unique time-release system that causes them to gel up as soon as moisture touches them.
If you are snorting the ER's I believe it's likely that you are losing a significant amount of the active ingredient due to this gelling mechanism. I believe this because after I have sniffed OpanaER, if I wait a little while(20minutes to an hour) and have not swallowed the blobs that form in my nose down the back of my throat, and I then drop some plain water into my nose and hold it there by plugging my nose with my fingers, I almost always feel considerable amounts of the active ingredient being released again.
So if you are snorting the ER's and potentially losing some of the active ingredient to the gelling process and you use a conversion chart to switch to another opiate that doesn't have the same gelling mechanism, you could end up taking more drug than you want. Also the effect is so significant and works as long as you still have the blobs in your nose, that I have added water to my nose as much as three hours later when I am coming down and I could actually get high again just off of what was trapped in the gel inside my nose.
This also applies to redosing because if you don't clean out your nose before redosing, even hours later, the gel can block even more of the active ingredient in your second dose.
