lorazepam.. recreational use/will it help with taper off oc's

Hey I'm about to begin a taper off oc's I've been using for 6-8 months now, an 80mg a day or more.. I'm going to do a taper 60mg a day for 5 days, and continue to drop 20mg every 5 days or so until I'm off them I have a couple sleep pills and some weed.. I found some lorazepam 0.5mg pills, would they help with the anxiety when I'm coming off the oxy? would they help me sleep? also do they have recreational value?

The lorazepam will definitely help you with the anxiety aspect of withdrawals and maybe even help you get some sleep, but I don't think you should be looking for recreational value from anything while you are trying to detox yourself from opiates. I suggest you get some ibuprofen aswell and if you can get a script for some clonidine that would be great too.

As far as lorazepam's recreational value, I can't tell you how you are going to react to it. Some find lorazepam to be very recreational, but most don't think it has much recreational value.

Recreational value or not, lorazepam is an high potency benzo with powerful anticonvulsant, anxiolytic, muscle relaxant, and amnesic properties. It is not to be taken lightly. It is a heavy-duty benzo.

thanks for the quick reply.. recreational value no need for thats a good point.. I have about 30-40 0.5mg pills.. how much mg would be an effective dose to curb anxiety? how much mg would be an effective dose to put me to sleep?

What's your tolerance like?

Have you taken Ativan or any other benzo before? And if so, how much?

OC tolerance 80-100mg.. benzo's 0.. i've taken valium 2 times in my life around 2-3 years ago.. took 10-20mg and felt nice.. so how many mg of lorazepam would make me feel calm and anxiety free?

my plan as far as the taper goes is 80mg today (this weekend i did more around 100-140mg a day) but usually i do around an 80mg a day
mon-fri 60mg a day
sat-wed 40mg a day
thur-mon 20 mg a day
tues-sat 10mg a day
so basically do an 80 mg today, then do a 20mg drop for every 5 day interval
does this sound like this will work im hoping to be able to do the taper and experience minimal if any withdrawal signs
also plan on smoking a lotta cigarettes, taking lorazepam when needed, smoking weed, and eating healthy (fruits, veggies, and vitamins)
i got school (university) midterms nd shit so i don't wanna be unmotivated/not functioning and experiencing full blown withdrawal.. will this taper work? any ideas to make it work with less resistance??

Good luck, sir. It's always uplifting to see people trying to drop their large tolerances. It's gonna be shitty, but you'll be much better when it's over.
Make sure you get plenty of sleep, and exercise when you can. Read up on loperamide (Immodium), I've heard that people have used it successfully to ease withdrawals.
At which point during this taper is your midterms? If you can function on your current habit, you may want to wait until after your midterm. B/c if you do feel w/d symptoms, studying or waking up early for class is going to be the last thing you will want to do. It's horrid trying to study while in withdrawals.

2-3 mg prob. This dude my friend knows takes 2 most the time sometimes 3 just helps him. Similar effects to ambien but not as euphoric. Will begin to get restless sometimes and then prob fall asleep. Try it with some trees.
