Benzos Lorazepam patch? Recreational value?

So this guy I met happens to have a lorazepam patch. He has little experience with benzos (he's had valium once, bromazepam twice) and was wondering whether this patch could have any recreational use, considering they're made for extended release. If so, he wondered how he could figure out the dose? The patch is about 2cm wide and is wrapped kinda like tape. How would he go about using it? Alternatively, he said he was considering an extraction if it didnt require much knowledge in chemistry.. Anyone kind enough to enlighten him?
