Loprazolam equivalency?

I've UTFSE, but there doesn't seem to be any answer to what I want to know on BL, and not that much about this particular benzo to begin with.

What dose of loprazolam would be equal to 5mg of nitrazepam, or roughly equal to 1x192mg chlormethiazole? Not sure as I am going to have much luck finding data on equivalency between loprazolam and the latter, seeing as how chlormethiazole is not exactly a commonly scripted hypnotic in the first place, and how its a pretty old med in the first place.

My loprazolam is in the form of 1mg tablets, while the nitrazepam is as 5mg tablets, and the chlormethiazole as 192mg liquid-filled gelcaps containing the freebase.
 
You should be able to find your answer here.

It says 1mg loprazolam = 10mg nitrazepam.

Chlomethiazole isn't a benzo, so you're not going to find an equivalent dose of it compared to benzos.
 
Yep. Should be approx. equal to 1mg lorazepam or 10mg diazepam. Of course, YMMV, as is the case with most benzos. Start low and find out what dosage works best for you.

^ They are asking about loprazolam, not lorazopam (I had to look it up to see if it was a spelling error or if loprazolam existed) although 1mg loprazolam = 1mg lorazopam. They couldn't think of another name instead of making it so confusing?
 
^I knew they were talking about loprazolam (not lorazepam, although I used lorazepam as the conversion example).

The names are pretty damn close. Who knows. Good thing they're approx. equal, as I'm sure pharmacists have made the same mistake before...
 
Yes, to clear things up, it is quite definately loprazolam. Loprazolam 1mg tablets. I am familiar with lorazepam, I've been scripted it in the past.

As far as chlormethiazole, I am well aware it isn't a benzo. Derivative of thiamine is actually much closer to the mark. I see no reason why it should be impossible to compare it with benzos though. Its closer to a barb in the way it acts as far as receptor gating kinetics goes, but its still a GABAa positive allosteric modulator, and thus shares a good bit of pharmacology with other hypnotics that are indeed classic 1,4-benzodiazepines such as loprazolam, diazepam etc (although loprazolam is an imidazo-1,4-benzodiazepine, like for example the benzo OD antidote flumazenil)
 
remember those charts are just a rough guide. this is used in the US too? i can't believe i haven't heard of it. got me all curious.

anyway, answered and closed.
