Loperamide

So I took 6mg's of loperamide along with 1g of ascorbic acid (which helps drugs cross the BBB), as an experiment. I didn't notice any effects until morning when I woke up. I was definately experiencing a mild opioid high. So it's definately not placebo, because I wasn't expecting this at all.

So before school I took 1g+ vitamin C, along with another 4mg's of loperamide.
The high I was already experiencing became stronger, and i'm experiencing it even now, so it's pretty long lasting.

The effects are mostly physical, because i've noticed little to no improvement in mood. Just a mild, yet enjoyable body high.

Anyone have similiar experiences?

im guessing you have zero opiate tolerance?

i tried using that to relieve withdrawal symptoms with no effect. i used pretty high doses both orally and insuffulated and it didnt help at all.

Where did you read that vitamin C helps "drugs" cross the BBB? I've never heard that. What's supposed to be the theory behind that? I've heard of enzyme blockers such as quinine supposedly helping lopermide cross the BBB, but I don't think that's been proven either.

You say the effects are mostly physical, that shows that the lopermide is most likely not crossing the BBB, it is just binding to the opioid receptors in your body giving you opiate side effects. How can you call it a mild high when you don't feel anything mentally?

Sorry to give you so much shit, I just don't want misinformation being spread.

Yea, I have a negligable opioid tolerance.

Theirs also quercetin, and polysorbate 80 which help to get it across. I used to take a quercetin with vitamin C and bioflavanoids supplement for my CPPS, but I ran out just recently. Gonna buy a new one and try this again, but with 12mg's this time. Anyone know where I can get the polysorbate 80? it's a sugar alcohol isn't it?

That is a pretty broad claim. I'm sure it's true with some drugs, but not all. Different types of drugs work in different ways. I'd be very surprised if vitamin C specifically had any effect on lopermide. There have been a lot of threads about forcing lopermide through the BBB and this is the first one I've seen that mentions vitamin C.

i read some of those articles and it seems that the vitamin C needs to be binded to the molecule about to cross to actually help. and some of them also says vitamin c by itself doesn't cross the bbb readily, whereas the oxidised form dehydroascorbic acid does. im sure that if vitamin C helped drugs cross the bbb by simply taking a vitamin c pill with your medicine there would be A LOT more of this practice. placebo.

^ The vitamin C didn't neccesarily cause the loperamide to get me high, it could have just been the loperamide by itself. But i'm not sure if it did help or didn't. I just know I got high.

Vitamin C isn't going to help this molecule cross the BBB. The few molecules that got through will be removed by P-gp.

What about quercetin or polysorbate 80? will that effect it in anyway?

sorry, but i think we have been through this a million times over and over. It might work for the shits, but it doesn't get you high!

Atleast read the first paragraph dude.

sorry, that was just a reflex when i read the title =D

Continue your research, and please continue to share your results with us. Maybe i will open my personal file for loperamide one day again, but for now, it's closed ;)

Not a good sign

no. never.

loperamide is sold OTC because it doesn't cross the BBB. that is, it DOES, in amounts that are so small, that our Ministry of Fascism and Drug Control allows it to be sold without Rx and schedule.

Loperamide can be attached to a certain thingamaboob (well, actually many thingamaboobs) in order to help it effectively pass through the BBB. But this is done in the lab for bioneurochemopsychiatric research just for the hell of it.

I just bought loperamide at a certain drugstore [i don't know what i can name on this website and what i can't so ill not name it, but it sounds like an STI.], and used my club card...the generic was on sale, 120 tablets for like 16.99 which is amazing.

In order to feel a mild opiate buzz, as you describe, you would have to take at least an entire bottle of 120 pills, if not thrice as much. But by then, you'd go to the hospital for fecal impaction and/or poisoning/dehydration/you name it, probably 10 minutes after you would MAYBE start to feel an extremely mild tramadol or librium-like high...you know what I mean?

So either they put oxycodone in the Immodium box by mistake, OR, and i don't wish to scare you - you might want to see a neurologist and explain to him what happens after you take loperamide.

If 6mg of loperamide is making you feel a buzz, that's not opiate naive reaction, that's something either hopefully an odd twilight-zone-once-in-a-million occurrence, OR an indication of certain neurological disorders which are not that fun.

So my advice. Try it again. Take 6mg or even 10mg or 12.. and then a laxative so that you don't have problems (and eat your fiber) and see if you get that same buzz again. You'll either clearly feel it or you won't - there's no placebo effect with opiate euphoria, since its quite strong, so you don't have to worry about tricking yourself by placebo effect. Please do this...honestly.
