Opioids Loperamide side effect question...

So I'm noticing a nagging sore throat after taking loperamide for almost 3weeks. I read that this can be part of the side effects, but I want to know exactly what interaction is causing this and if I should be concerned.

Is this happening because of the dry mouth or is it something else?

From what I understand, lomperamide's effects are caused by inhibition of the release of acetylcholine which is a neurotransmitter in the autonomic peripheral nervous system. This regulates motility throughout your entire digestive tract including the esophagus and esophageal sphincter in your throat.

I assume that the difficulty in swallowing could cause the sore throat symptoms that you are experiencing.
