Loperamide and WD

I know I know its been discussed a ton but is taking Lope just putting off the inevitable?

I have been taking hydrocodiene, H, Oxy, etc for a long time and im just done with it. I haven't had anything since Sunday and bought some generic lope (2mg/pill) yesterday and have to say that while I am still feeling indifferent about everything like normal WD im still at work and putting up a good fight.

If I take the lope for a few days and then stop are the WD symptoms going to just start up again.

If you taper down the dosage (you're going to need more than 2mg for WDs to start out with) then the WD symptoms won't just start up again.

That's the great thing about a taper, the WDs run their course, but you're more comfortable for the whole thing.
 
^True, but it does exert effects on the GI system, which is the source of many of the unpleasant symptoms of opiate withdrawal.

Loperamide has been documented as an effective drug against opiate WD symptoms.
 
Im not too good of a taperer...

Sorry I didnt post up how much lope I took either. Yesterday I took. 12mg 3x's and today I have only take 12mg's once and I feel pretty normal. Especially after taking 170 10/325 hydros in the 6 days prior to this past monday.

Im just hoping that I can take this lope for a few days and that will get me over the worst 3-5 days of the WD. Then I wont be taking anything, forever hopefully.

holy shit you took 175 hydros with 325 apap in only six fucking days?

well opiate WD might not be a problem as you may die from liver failure first.
 
^It will help a lot. 12mg at once is pretty normal for having to fend off withdrawals.

Once, I was in WD and I ended up just shoving lope pills into my mouth. I probably took 20mg or so but it worked, and knocked down cramps, shits, most of the body aches, etc.

It's certainly a helpful drug, not a miracle cure, but pretty darn close....

Well you figure 3000mg apap is what they say you should not be taking so I look at it like they do the dosing anyway. My liver is great. Just got some bloodwork back and everything is kosher (non related tests). Im not condoning that much apap being taken just saying im still here.

Well the question still remains. Is taking lope daily just prolonging the inevitable? Like im still taking opiates holding the symptoms off?
 
It is technically an opiate, so technically, the answer is yes. However, as StaySedated already mentioned, it does not pass the BBB, so there will no be psychological effects, making it much easier to taper down off of, if that makes any sense.

In other words, you won't have any psychological cravings for loperamide during/after the taper.
 
F, Then I should just get it over with. I think the psychological part is the worse anyway.

But what about the amounts. I mean if I was taking 200mg of hydro and only 12-24mg lope you would have to think thats worth something...
 
Were you taking the hydrocodone and the loperamide at the same time? Or did you come off a 200mg hydrocodone habit with 12-24mg of loperamide. You can take as much lope as you need to get relief from the physical symptoms....
 
Never took them in conjunction. I was just ending the hydro and needing some relief so I went and got the lope. And I will say that I feel much better then I ever have being 2 days off. I just hope this is not a false feeling and when I stop the lope im right back where I started.

I will say this though. Me and WD's are strange partners. The last time before this it wasn't bad at all but that was after staying clean for a week then going another month or so doing whatever opiate I could get. Like normal. But last time before that I had to call in to work for 3 days because I couldnt even bear the thought of looking much less talking to someone I'm in sales so its a much to be on your game when you are at work. Im sure you can see the trouble trying to sell cars while being dopesick!

I hate this cycle. I feel like such a weak person having to go back to it but having a 180 10/325 hydro script and knowing people who can get whatever makes it so hard. I would be happy to deal with the pain and not have to go through this yet another time.
 
^It's happened to the best of us my friend, I'm in the same situation you are. Tapering drugs (including loperamide) are a help, but not a complete solution.

Day seven still takin the lope. I took some vics on Thursday but I was fine after that.

I will say this. The Loperamide is unbelievable at curbing WD symptoms. I have been taking a dulcolax (sp?) with every lope pill at a 1/1 ratio and have had no issues. Feels good being kinda sober! :)
