Hey everybody:) I recently stopped smoking weed earlier this year because I had had enough of being stoned all the time after 6 years of heavy use. I am sure i was addicted (I know they say you can't or only a tiny tiny percent get addicted, but I think I was part of that minority) so I really wanted a change after all those years. I started smoking at 17 because of a stomach problem I was experiencing, so I started out smoking to help with medical reasons but I believe this played a hand in me becoming hooked right off the bat. I am really excited because of the fact that your brain doesn't fully mature until you are 25, so I figure if I spend the next couple of years sober and doing proactive things, I can recover from any brain development abnormalities. I also think anyone who doesn't think their brain doesn't change are really ignorant to the workings of your mind and body. So really I am asking will my brain recover?

Yes your brain will recover..what problems are u having that was caused from the weed?

i used to smoke 24/7 and after a year of cutting back and now only smoking a few times a week i notice all of the negative side effects are gone

Come to think of it I don't actually know that I have any problems per say, but maybe I would be smarter/more motivated/ happier/ have better memory and concentration/higher testosterone and more sex drive if I never used or quit within a year or so..you know i'm sure that the funny thing about your brain is it's hard to tell if something is wrong using the mind you currently have..lol. I guess I just mean maybe things will get a lot better and my brain will continue to fully develop during the next couple years by studying, exercise and doing productive things
:D

Yes, but it takes time. Especially with things like benzos and alcohol. Keep in mind, its often so slow that its difficult to notice. I think back to how I was at three months almost a year later and its night and day. My thinking at 3 months felt frenzied and fuzzy. I should note that I have ADD so that plays a role.

Studying, exercising, productivity get much easier. I used to hate applying for jobs, now its nothing and I crank out a few every couple of days. I am trying to find new one in six months, so I am starting now so I do not stress over it. This would not have been done when I am using.

I am also juggling work and graduate school full time right now. Wouldn't have been able to do this if I was still using.

Sweet man, yeah def. gonna be patient as you said and accept my new lifestyle, very excited for it:) Really glad you got your stuff together and are doing well
