Ive read thru many threads on BL along with internet searches &It seems from what i hv read on here most advice is from 2011& i think i may hv seen a few from 2013. I know info on helping a person to minimize & reduce those pesky things to a nonexsistent state probably hasnt changed since 2013 but i really need some help. Hopefully someone has found something that will help get rid of these things cuz i hv tried everything short of getting a tatt on them which would only help on one of my arms, the other arm is tatted up to about 3inches below the track mark &there wouldnt be a way to incorperate a new design into this tatt.
Let me start w/ saying im a chubby girl. I hv only a few spots w/ small visable veins, feet, wrist & hands. I hv read that those are no-no spots. I hv 4 i can hit only &thats w/a tourniquet. Inner &outer crooks of the elbows. The track marks are on the nice juicy outer veins &i havent hit either one of those in at least a month. The 2 inner spots i now stick right in the center of the previous stick to avoid the tracks. I use usually 2 injections at a setting & i shoot up 2x a day. Im using opiates so i know im suppose to water down the mix to minimize the irritating substance to the vein. I use a micron filter, fresh point each time, clean site w/alcohol,apply direct pressure after needle is removed. The points are diabetic needles 31g 1/2in. I really need the 1/2in. cuz the veins are in quite deep but today i did find two 31g 5/16in &was able to use them but the hub of the syringe is pressed directly onto my site whereas the 1/2in.ones are able to gently rest on it. I hv used bruise healing cream w/ arnica gel & this AP4 aloe which states its "medical strength". Before that i used a bruised remedy w/arnica montana, MSM & aloe vera. Ive used vitamin E oil,neosporin....all of these products i use several times a day. I just ordered hirruroid(sp?) creme & skin bleaching creme....i am ghostly white which only makes these deep red marks even more of an eyesore. Now the reason i need these marks as minimal as possible is cuz i take prescription meds that need monitored via lab work frequently& i''ll be having surgery in a month.Trying to explain these marks isnt an option. Covering them up isnt a problem but once they go to wipe off the site w/that alcohol pad im busted. Last month when i needed to give my blood i steadily used the one inner elbow crook only &i wrapped up my elbow & used a sling on the worse arm so they was stuck using the better arm. I even got away w/ i give plasma to justify my marks but that was many months ago before the marks became tracks (before i knew that i was creating track marks)
I apologize for the lengthy post...i am just really hoping someone has advice on anything newer than already spoken about on the older post. Thanks

Try this stuff called IODEX. It is an iodine ointment that you rub on and into the skin. It keeps the bacteria from growing for long periods of time which means it stays effective longer than neosporin. I use this before and after. Make sure to really rub it in. It will actually help with the bruises too, especially in conjunction with an ice pack. Any left over scarring can usually be taken care of with MADERMA. Also, make sure you are taking care of your body the best you can. There's no substitute for vitamins and a good night of sleep. The body can't heal if you take away the time when it would normally do so.
