I have been a multi drug abuser my whole adult life. I was always very methodical about my usage and lived a successful family life. It was no secret that I enjoyed taking drugs. My friends and family were aware to an extent. I was one to never turn a drug down when the opportunity arose, but never had physical addiction and had enough self control to not cause me any financial or relationship issues.
Only until the past two years that I started to see a cross over into my everyday life. Meaning coke did interfere with work/family for the first time. That has to do with starting up crack. I turned a 4-5 times a year coke purchase, into a monthly purchase once I started. I also played with a needle a few times a year. I hid the needle and crack from everyone.
I was always attracted to risky situations. I would take chances and potentially put myself in harms way for a laugh or thrill. I had an infatuation with trying every major drug there was. Once I hit 40, 3 years ago, I started pushing it further. Thats when I started crack and fucking with the needle more often. I also started seeking out street people to hook me up with crack, mostly when I was buzzed up on booze.
Earlier this year I started asking for boy. I knew that heroin was quite rare these days, but I didn't care. If I get fent, fuck it, ill try it. One night this past April, while drunk, I randomly called a number from my phone that was a dealer. I let a crackhead use my phone the week before, and we got some hard. I cold called them and surprisingly he decided to hook me up.
I picked up several capsules from him. I remember trying to snort one on my drive home( yeah fuckin STUPID!). I got home and didnt feel much and said fuck it, i'm gonna shoot a pill. I had ZERO opiate tolerance at this point. Never did heroin or fent, but I did shoot a dilly about 10 years prior. I'd take oxy/morphine/hydro when I got my hands on it, but never actively sought it out.
I had fent test strips on hand, but the booze was driving my decision. I shot the whole thing up around 2:30am and woke up in an ambulance.
My wife found me at 5am barely breathing with blood/puke caked in my beard.
5 months later I made 99% recovery. Heart and lungs are great and only dealing with a paralyzed vocal cord from being intubated.
My main question is that the doctors said I had a pulmonary embolism. I am a very healthy person beside the drug abuse. Meaning I exercise most days. Lift weights and cardio. I'm in great shape and had no prior issues with blood clots. The pulmonary doctor said my lungs were rough. Basically said it was from chronic drug abuse. Well, I wasn't a chronic intravenous user, but they aren't gonna believe that.
I don't think I heated the fent powder before I shot it. I tested positive for weed, coke, xan, and fent. I haven't taken coke/xan in at least 10 days prior, so thinking the powder was a cocktail of stuff.
Could not heating the solution cause a PE? Or maybe the combination of alcohol and the opiates? Just trying to gather what happened in my body. Did I nod off and then puke and the PE came once I choked on my vomit? Did the OD instantly cause a PE?
Just curious if anyone else experienced a pulmonary embolism when they OD'd on opiates.
