Looking for educated advice on LSD and mental health

Hi there.

I'll keep this somewhat brief. I have a triple diagnosis of ADHD, Major Depressive Disorder, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I take 10mg of Dexedrine XR and 40mg of Prozac daily. I'm in a good place in life, but feel that I need a sort of mental reset after a particularly difficult few years and a few too many medication trials. Many give the advice that LSD should be avoided at all costs if you have mental health issues. I'm not sure if that applies in my case. My sanity has never been in question, I have no family history of schizophrenia or anything like that, am not prone to psychosis, and have had enough mental healthcare experience to confidently say that I know myself well. I've done a lot of research, and read from many how LSD helped with their depression, aided them in finding new perspectives, and was a positive experience. I haven't felt depressed in awhile now, but still just sort of flat. Life's been nasty to me, and it's made me bitter, despite fighting that bitterness every step of the way. I'm working hard towards having a more positive outlook and will succeed in time.

I do think I'll be completely okay in handling LSD. I've tried various chemicals in the 2c range, MDMA, and even some "changa" (sp?), DMT with an MAO-I. All were very positive experiences. I know there isn't any physical danger here. When the LSD wears off, I'll still be here. I've also read a good deal about taking LSD while on Prozac, and taking LSD while on amphetamines. From my understanding, these will alter the experience, maybe lessen it, but there is no danger. I take both of those medications every day, and would be taking them the day of my trip, if I decide to do it. If it does happen, I'll be alone in a big house with all of the media entertainment and freedom a person could want. Absolutely zero external worries. Perfect environment for me. I've heard many say you shouldn't take LSD alone. I can't imagine taking it any other way. I'm quite happy in the times I'm alone. This doesn't worry me. I have two LSD doses in blotter paper form. I have verification from a close and experienced friend of their authenticity. I would be taking a single dose, and leaving the other for another time or another person. I cannot be sure of the exact dosage of each tab.

Despite the research I've already done, I'd love some personal advice. If anyone can relate from personal experiences and share, or offer me a no-bs opinion, I'd greatly appreciate it. :)

Thanks in advance!

well if you've done enough research and feel you are ready I'd say go for it. bee sure that what you take is lsd tough, you don't wanna end up in a 30 hours DOX trip, and maybe keep some Benzos just in case.
taking an ssri with a psychedelic should decrease the effects of the latter, but you already know that
good luck and have a good trip :) and be sure to report back ;)

Thanks ComfortablyNumb, appreciate your input. :) If I do it I'll be sure to post back!

Not sure how the etiquette on this forum works, but I'm hoping for a bit more feedback. Apologies if that's in bad taste, or something. So, bump. :)

While a single tab rarely does much, your caution is appreciated. However I recommend taking both unless they are stellar tabs, considering your ssri use, which can greatly reduce a trip

^^ Suggesting to a novice LSD user with complex mental health issues that they take both tabs at once is completely irresponsible and inconsiderate, even despite the fact that their medication will likely diminish the effects somewhat.

doritos, it sounds like you've really done your research and are ready to trip, that's great :) I really hope it goes well for you. A couple of words of caution though, be prepared for the possibility that you may feel anxious during the trip, or for the couple of days afterwards you might feel a bit low. That's not guaranteed though of course, but with someone who has suffered with anxiety and depression in the past it's just worth noting. Also, it sounds like you're expecting a lot to come out of this trip. Maybe don't expect too much, because to be completely honest with you, the vast majority of my trips I've just had a really really fun time whilst tripping, and not really had anything to take away from it in terms of life lessons or a mental reset kinda thing. But overall, I hope it's a positive experience for you :)

Good luck! And let us know how you go :)

Good luck doritos, it sounds like you've got all the bases covered. Rarely have I read a more complete description of LSD preparedness. I'll agree with those who've said high expectations may lead to disappointment- your meds may dampen the experience a little. Nonetheless, if you continue to treat LSD with the respect it deserves you're bound to have a great time.

P.S. It's always wise to start with just one tab - if you find the experience lacking you can try more next time.

I'd recommend doing half a tab to begin with. Though rare, there are 200+mcg blotters out there and a 200mcg trip for your first time with mental health issues would not be something fun.

SSRI's and MAOI's are contraindicated and may cause Serotonin Syndrome, which can be fatal. You should more carefully research possible interactions with your meds. Honestly, I could never recommend the use of psychedelics to somebody with mental health issues unless under the supervision of a competent psychiatrist, which, unfortunately, is unlikely to be possible.

I agree with this statement. Some people should never consume drugs as the risks to their mental health far out way the brief pleasurable experience gained from using the substance. Psychedelics could play a key part in psychotherapy in some cases and would be administered under the supervision of qualified mental health services staff/psychiatrists etc. Studies being done at the moment into this field, think the BL front page has an article about this. :)

Haha. Okay so I ended up taking both tabs like 4 hours ago. It's awesome! But at the same time, no big deal. :D Not sure what I expected or why I put this chemical on such a pedestal. It is awesome though.

Update more later. Maybe. ;)

hey man, you must be feeling pretty good right now xD
good to know you did your research and are having a fun time, look up zoomquilt 2 and go for a ride ;)

Hope you had a great experience doritos!! :) <3 Report back if and when you feel necessary :)
