Was originally prescribed xanax but it wears off too fast. Then Ativan but it takes too long to kick in. What benzo lasts for a considerable amount of time, but doesn't take too long to kick in?

I've found that clonazepam works for a much longer length of time, but it does take some time to kick in--unlike ativan which acts fast and wears off quickly. The other good thing about clonazepam is that your tolerance doesn't skyrocket immediately, which is another big downside to ativan. I've never tried xanax, so I can't compare them. I've also tried valium, but a long time ago so I don't remember much about it.

I'm sure your doctor will be able to help you if you talk to him/her about it.
I hope this helps

I take either 2mgs of xanax or 4mgs of ativan. Since Valium is not very potent and also very sedating I feel like its not something I really need. I have considered clonazepam but it tends to give me amnesia a lot like xanax does in high dosages. I was considering possibly xanax xr but I'm not sure how that is because I don't know anyone that has ever used it. I am just really looking for something that kicks in fast like xanax to get my panic under control and that lasts for a while to keep it under control.

I want something that kicks in in like 5-10. Ativan takes like 30-40.. I might try kpin though.

Yeah I have been wanting to talk to my doctor about maybe trying something besides Xanax, perhaps something with a longer half life since the duration of the Xanax is so short. I get ninety .5 mg pills a month but it just doesn't seem to be enough. I take Etizolam alongside of that and know that's getting out of control but seem to be spiraling down. Can't be honest with my doctor obviously he would want to cut me off of benzos completely. Wish I never would have started this to begin with.

ativan SUCKS , plain and simple. people who enjoy it, typically dislike xanax and have not tried other benzos or have never tried any other benzos.

Clonazepam doesn't kick in all that fast but you would most definitely like the effects

But does xanax xr deliver some xanax right away then slowly release it throughout the day?

yes.

xanax xr is favored over xanax ir where I live... I've seen a lot of blacking out on the XR pills... weirdly enough. Which to me, that would mean it has better anxiety-relief.

I don't know I would love to get like xanax ir and pin together but I know that'd never happen. I might give xr a go just because it releases some up front and extend releases throughout the day. Plus having 3mg xr pills would be a plus! I not really looking to get high off of these anymore been there done that not very satisfying but they sure as hell do wonders for anxiety and panic.

oxazepam try reading up on that it works like alprazolam but metabolize to nordiazepam in the liver so allso works a lot longer not quite as potent tho but its my faveroite benzo for anxiety and ive tryed em all.

It is a metabolite of diazepam, prazepam, and temazepam,[4] and has moderate amnesic, anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, hypnotic, sedative, and skeletal muscle relaxant properties

I've read up on oxazepam it looks like it just takes too long to kick in. My main problem with Ativan was that it took 30-40 minutes to start working..

Better off just overlooking benzos entirely.

You can get what you could out of them for a short time, but, beyond that, worth more trouble then need be.

I think he's expecting too much. Why do you need a benzo to kick in so quickly? The longer half life alternatives time to kick in is irrelavent, you dose before it runs it's course, with possibly xanax as needed for anxiety attacks?

Why not just sublingual half your dose so it will hit you in about 5 or 10 mins and swallowing the rest? Sublingual administration gets rid of your problem about onset time taking too long, I'd go with kpin btw

I've tried Ativan, Xanax & Clonazepam, Temazepam & Valium.......Temazepam is far & away the most euphoric & recreational IMO.......but Valium IMO beats ativan & xanax hands down......in fact, I feel xanax is evil in its own way.

So Valium would be my opinion for you......then again, the road yo go is no benzos, but you don't want to hear that......so Valium is the answer.

If you're looking for something purely anxiolytic (well, almost), Pyrazolam is worth looking at. It's not recreational or euphoric, less sedating than other benzos I have tried (e.g. xanax, etizolam, diazepam), not too bad amnesia, onset is about 10-90 minutes (10 empty stomach, 90 full stomach). I found it easier to control use of it than Etizolam by a long shot. Low doses are enough. Half-life is 9-11 hours. Tolerance can increase just as with any other benzo. In any case, if you consider it, approach with caution, do some research and start with low doses.
