I've been on Klonopin 0.50-1mg daily for about 7-8 years and am curious as to how dangerous withdrawal will be for me being low dose user?

I'm sure it's not going to be fun because my body is dependent but as far as seizures/delerium is there much of a risk? A while back I would take Kpin in the am and drink pretty heavy in the pm but I stopped drinking a few months ago.

I'm at 0.50mg daily right now and am wondering about how fast I should take to get off the rest safely. My doc didn't seem too concerned but I've heard enough horror stories to not take benzo wd lightly.

you have been on klonopin a long time man. you could possibly have seizures/delirium, however you could walk away with little discomfort....people are different, and i dont think it is safe to say that there is a 100% chance you wont have a seizure. no one can tell you for sure what is going to happen to you but it is likely you will go through some hellish w/d's. even though you stuck to a low dose you have been taking them for a rather long period of time...

speak to the doctor who is prescribing you the kpins and ask if you can do a slow taper. this is the safest way to come off them and is easier on your body/mind than just going cold turkey. stay safe man

at the end of the day, with benzo's, the actual dose doesnt seem to matter as much as how well the dose is established does.

after being on 6+mgs a day so long, and then .5-1mg for a couple years, the w/d's from either never seemed much less of a threat in comparison - personally.

I appreciate the feedback.

So the consensus seems to be that I'm going to have to go through some pain to get off it. Anyone got any experiences/advice on how to go about it? Thanks.

talk to a doctor, or two actually.

... some say to go down 10% every two weeks +, switching to valium is often the case for its even longer half-life.
i agree.

i slowly went from 2mgs down .25 every other day over the course of a year, then i went three days w/o .25 and it got me. benzos are nothing to assume of, and "will power" has very little to do with a physical reaction during withdrawal from them.

you dont want to exert yourself by 'restraining' or 'acting out' too much either - it is common to develop little twitches etc. while your body is readjusting, to be bothered by this, and trying to stop it from happening can be taxing and over-exerting.

Valerian is helpful for most as it was and is myself, it is an OTC herbal supplement.

before taking anything like valerian though, again, i would talk to a doctor about helping you taper, or even recommending you to a medical professional who can.
