Hi there, I'm Lu and I've probably using this forum for years now. Although I haven't participated, I've been hanging around here and reading for God knows how long. This forum has been invaluable in keeping myself and friends safe during our escapades. I've gotten a lot out of it, so I thought it was time to introduce myself and start giving something back to the community
I have had my fair share of personal experience, study a very relevant subject at University level, do plenty of background reading and I value harm reduction above all else, so hopefully I will be of some use! I've also got a very good idea of the rules and etiquette from having lurked here for so long, I'll go over the rules again of course
I guess my interest in this forum is three-fold. Firstly, of course, I enjoy getting out my face, especially with friends. Secondly, I have had and continue to have mental health difficulties and I often attempt to self-medicate (yes, bad idea I know, working on that one). Thirdly, I find the science fascinating, and being able to have the knowledge to keep myself and my friends relatively safe is invaluable.
At this point in my life I am trying to reduce my substance use from "every day" to "occasionally". I am beginning to realise I use certain substances as a way of ignoring personal issues, which is an unhealthy attitude to have. I would describe myself as a polydrug abuser with addictive tendencies, and this is currently having a negative impact on my life. However I firmly believe that drug use *can* be beneficial to people's lives, if it is done properly.
Looking forward to getting to know all you wonderful people
lots of love, Lu.
