Greeting fellow psychonauts!
I'll be known as DC - a currently-self-described autodidactic pharmokineticist with a penchant for empiricism and stacks of legitimate data, renegade amalgamator of neuroscience, psychology, and spirituality, experienced field-work enthusiast on the subjects, and decently-educated connoisseur of the great-big-near-everything this forum discusses.
So yeah! It's actually a pleasure to be posting here for the first time - incidentally, brought here at an odd hour by a somewhat altered state of mind, a bit of information for another section that may be useful, my own personal love of the subject and these forums and, for what it's worth, relative expertise and credentialing in multiple fields ranging from basic understandings of neuroreceptor roles, transmitters and respective biological responses, selectivity in activation, not limited to Recreationals, but encompassing several dozen of the hundreds of chemical transmitters we use daily...
...all the way down to - and I'm trying not to toot my own horn here too much - a pretty comprehensive understanding of advanced biomechanical concepts involving topics such as calcium ion gate channel openings (and the quantum repercussions thereof), binding potential comparisons between molecules and compounds and their respective effects on one another (for instance, the roles of gamma amino burytic acid, norepinephrine, cortisol, and adenosine agonism and antagonism in both benzodiazapines and caffeine when taken comorbidly), the physiology, psychology, and especially the factual data surrounding things such as physical dependence, what doctors call "addiction," what I would call genetic propensities towards self-medication (and executing it properly, as well as dashing myths and misunderstandings on the subjects as best as I can), and a host of various other bits of what ends up making sure each one of us ends up in a profoundly unique way - to be like everyone else, and therefore, fantastically ripe for study, interpretation and assessment, and eventual understanding from all sides.
Also, I have a thing for theoretical physics. Don't we all, though?
For the record, not that anyone will want to until I prove it's worthwhile, but I'll happily offer my thoughts to any member here regarding any questions they may have in the medical, psychological, or philosophical fields. I always love talking of the finer things.
I ensure I maintain fairly impressive credentials, hardly limited to a knowledge of these forums' topics, and am happy to share what I've learned through the years (like what Shiva told me a few years back about Life, The Universe, and Everything) should anyone be interested, or need a quasi-expert consultative opinion on a complex scientific matter ("will these chemicals act synergistically or competitively in receptors?" for instance). Even if you're actually the freaking brilliant biomed professor and you'd just like to poke me, I'm happy to chat!
So - I think that's it! Hopefully I can help out here, and I'll try to frequent regularly and contribute - especially considering the massive use I've gotten from Google Searching these forums late at night for obscure discussions and topics found nowhere else.
TL;DR -
I am DC.
1. Well-versed in the chemical/neurological/physiological repercussions of our daily behaviors - whether intoxicants are involved or not
2. Several variations of personality-based psychology and their correct applications - I'm a Meyers-Briggs INTP, hyper-rational, schizotypal-as-fuck individual, should it matter
3. Feel I can be quite useful in offering information such as specific safety advice, drug interactions both positive and negative, a basic understanding of how these chemicals operate in our brains independently and in conjunction with others, based on the most recent research
4. Can occasionally even deliver faith for the rationally-atheistic faithless, hope for the hopeless, and endless citations of any pertinent shit I ever say ever, PLUS....!
5. YES! That's right! ALL the standard Peace and Love that comes alongside your stereotypical idealist hippie slackers, quad and dorm-room hanging, yet already hung out to dry, hackeysack-whacking, frisbees flying, Jack Johnson album blasting, auto-fellatio soldiers in typical narcissistic "counter-culture-of-generation-me"-idolizing green-movement eco-friendly vegan anti-fur pro-weed pro-choice pompously absorbed vain-glorious asshat-type Wunderkidz.
That was a joke. Sorry about it, hopefully some here like their humor sun-dried.
But nah seriously - Delighted to be here, and looking forward to the discussions at hand.
Now it's off to the E-Vault to discuss!
Truly, sincerely, perhaps entertainingly snidely, and yours for now (and maybe forever!)
Mr. D.C.
