Howdy from Ohio ! New here and 1st post , Has anyone here heard WHY the VA has done away with fast acting pain relievers ie: Percocet ?? I am fed up with VA as a whole , The reason I was told is because of all the people OD'ing on them , What really burns me up is I have been taking pain medications for over 30 years and never once took more than prescribed and now I am more or less being treated like a junkie ?? I am currently on Morphine and took the Percocet for breakthrough pain NOW I dont have any idea how or what to ask for for something for thaT !

Hiya Ratchet1957,

First of all I'd like to welcome you to Bluelight - and say how nice it is to receive another new member, although I am sorry for the circumstances for why you've come. I live in the UK and thus I cannot really help you with this. However, I will direct you to North and South American Social & Drug Discussion because there are people who are more likely to live within your locality and may have more of an awareness of the answer to your question.

I'll also direct you to a sub-forum called Other Drugs (OD) where you may get some answers there. I would also suggest that you use Bluelight's search facility (box on top, right of the screen). Simply type a word in and a list of threads will appear containing the word.

I would also advise you to read the - Greenlighter's Guide and the rules known as - BLUA (Bluelight User Agreement) because they protect us members as well as the site. For instance; one of the rules is no sourcing, if a member had not read the rules and discusses sourcing, then they may receive a warning or whatever, and if they had have read the rules, they would have avoided receiving, eg a warning.

Wishing you all the best and that you get the answers you're looking for. Please feel free to ask any further questions about the site.

That's weird they are no longer giving out those I know what you mean its terrible how people get treated it doesn't help matters at all. My mom had suffered for years unable to work with her stomach blowing up like a basketball whenever she eats from diverticulitis and numerous other conditions. Doctors refuse to help her live a meaningful life by prescribing her opiates they let her suffer daily even though she thinks about suicide daily and talks about wanting to finally die to me after 10 years of this Un able to even leave the house.
There's not much you can do beisde heroin like most people are turning too for fast acting pain reliEF. I had to start picking up heroin for me and my mom after oxys were no longer prescribed its sad but reality.

Trainspotter, so sorry to hear that. Your Mam shouldn't have had to suffer like that.

chronic pain vet new member

my first post is a reply to you, which got me motivated to register on. Also a long time chronic pain sufferer and Veteran. I was dropped by a very familiar patient assist program because they say that since I am a veteran" I must follow VA guidelines". This was done in a months notice ,I am sure you know how long it takes to get a pain consult from the VA. That left me with no option but to pay a $1300 co pay for the meds I have been on for years and possibly having to drop my board certified private dr. whom I have been with over 15 years. They had no compassion what so ever, made me go through the entire appeals process only to turn me down again. i am now faced with a $2000 dollar copay ( donut hole BS) and absolutely, after last month especially no way to cover it. My Dr. (private bless him) put on the generic MS contin which i will be picking up I hope that it works as well as the--------- cant say due to possible litigation. But it was not good news to hear that they dropped your breakthrough medication as I reluctantly have an appointment next month at the VA. Things seemed to be be OK for a while in the chronic pain arena but now as u said they are starting to treat us like junkies again, and I mean no offense to any one with a drug problem, but I have been taking a large dose of pain meds daily, and responsibly for a long time, well guess I have spouted off enough for my first post HELLO to all I wish you all well.
