Long term effects of daily pod tea usage

Wow bplayin, you really, really know your shit when it comes to the pods. I had mentioned the pod thing with no real intentions of you becoming a freaking expert at making the tea. Good to see that you seem to really know your shit these days. I'm proud of ya, man!

I use 2-3 pods (mammoths) to about 3 cups of water, and I don't find 3grams to be too much. It might be overkill, but tums are cheap and I don't mind the tropical flavors. Also, I use a bodum rather than a plastic bottle. I don't like pouring near boiling water into plastic... Too worried about the chemical leeching (Bisphenol A, etc).

Yo man, go to tha drug store and get the suppliment Calcium Carbonate 600, let that soak(crushed up or blended in)with ur pods while warming them. IMO it is a more pure form of CC and a higher mg of CC. I chew tums/antiacids after tea consumtion mostly to kill the taste but I am sure it balances out the morph. extraction.
Also, I believe the warm coffee I sip afterwards helps balance it out too, cause u never want ur original tea to reach too high of temp while cookin', then ur morph. is on the line.
BTW thumbs up on the container u use, maybe it does have some effect, but shaking does seem to make a stonger strain overall.

Yeah, I use the 600s with Vitamin D in them, and take a tagamet when I start processing my tea. I chase my tea with coffee as well, m21! Great minds think alike, eh? But seriously, I grind my pods and 1 600 mg tablet cacium per pod in a blender, then add boiling water ( about 3 oz per medium pod ). Let it steep for 30 minutes, then add about 1 oz lemon juice per pod. It will bubble well when you have enough lemon juice. Let it steep for another 30 minutes, then add 16 oz cranberry juice. Voila, it's all good. Like I posted earlier, I don't strain my tea. It's the only way to fly!

Awesome my "POD" brother... maybe others will follow.......PODZ4EVA<3

Thought I would just throw in 2 cents. I've been using pods every day for something like 2 years now. I just quit. I didn't notice any bad effects on my health that are outwardly noticeable, except addiction and constipation. I've quit doing them several other times for very short periods, but never stayed away for more than a week. This time feels different though. I've finally become fed up with not feeling anything. With being on the nod most of the time. With spending money for a shipment twice a month. Its the strangest thing, but for the first time in so long I can actually feel emotions. The opiate magic is truly destroyed by daily use. I used to take them because they made me euphoric and enhanced emotions. Over time, the opposite happens. I couldn't feel a fucking thing. No euphoria. No bliss. Not even a good body high. Just numbness. Pods remind me a lot of methadone in this sense. I think I've just totally burned out on them. It's made quitting much easier. I don't want to go back there. I don't know...I mean I feel like I used to be a nice person. For at least the last year people have told me that I never seem happy. They didn't know about my habit. I think it's time to get back to life.

Yeah dude I know exactly what you're talking about. After only a few months of constant usage the magic pretty much was gone. I would take breaks occasionally (usually just a few days, longest was 1 week) and that would sort of bring the magic back a little.

I've been off them for about a week now and I'm starting to feel better physically. Able to sleep again too, it's nice.

After a couple months of pod usage, I went to the doc for some random health ailments and during some routine bloodwork found that my liver function is running double what is normal. An ultrasound was performed and there was nothing visably wrong, but I'm being referred to a specialist to find out the extent of the damage and whether it'll fade with time or not. It won't have too great of a shot at healing up though, since after 2 weeks of toughing out WD I bought more pods. 8)

So keep an eye on your liver if you drink lots of PPT, none of my symptoms pointed to liver damage but I still have it.

What other drugs have you abused? I highly doubt the liver damage is from the pods. Did you used to drink a lot or do you currently drink a lot? IV drug use that could have gotten you Hep C?

I've never been a heavy drinker, and in the last year I've consumed a total of like one bottle of wine. Only IVed once in my life (a decade ago) and my doc ran a full hep screen anyway and I was negative for all three. The only drugs I have used in any significant amount were ambien and some percs and vikes here and there to potentiate the pods.

There ya go... The Tylenol inside Percocets and Vicodins can RAPE YOUR LIVER WITHOUT LUBE!!! Trust me when I say that. Tylenol and other NSAIDS kill more people each year then Marijuana has in the history of its existence!!! Ok, bad example... But it kills ~8 THOUSAND people PER YEAR! That may not SOUND like a lot... But... That's 4 times the size of the entire population of the town I was raised in. However, it still kills roughly HALF the amount of people that ALL ILLICT DRUGS KILL COMBINED per year... So... Watch out. Also, the way it kills you is worse then ANY IMAGINABLE DEATH! Something about organs shutting down... or liquifying... bleeding... dying a few days AFTER the actual OD that does in your liver... Stuff like that. Opiates and Opioids have NEVER been known to cause ANY damage to the human liver... Unless it's adulterated, or taken in combination, etc.

I know APAP is bad, but two or three a week isn't enough to cause damage-- let alone enough that my liver function would be DOUBLE normal. I doubt it was the morphine/codeine that caused damage, my guess is the non-recreational alkaloids.

I would be interested to hear what else your doc finds. However, just ONE time with tylenol can destroy your liver. It's not necessarily how many times, but how big the doses are.

/shrug

I'll be sure to bump the thread if my follow-up bloodwork is still abnormal and the specialist has anything definitive to say.

I've been a tea drinker for nearly a year now and I'm currently a daily drinker. I have tried nearly every method available: 30 min steep, 2 hour steep, overnight steep, short boil, long boil, adding calcium, adding baking soda, adding lemon juice, etc. I have tried it all. Well I just tried a new method and it works better than ANY OTHER METHOD by far. Get yourself a stovetop espresso maker and you will have the strongest tea per pod ratio you have ever tried. I did a lot of research and this is the best one BY FAR: http://www.amazon.com/Bialetti-Express-Espresso-Maker-06801/dp/B000SOQI0E/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1235867400&sr=1-3. TRUST ME, you want to try this method. I had the 6cup, but it was too small. The 9cup is PERFECT for making a dose for myself and my wife, but you might need the 12cup version if your tolerance is high.

Strongest tea possible, takes 10-15mins to make and NO REWASHING. The person I found this method from saved 12 days worth of used pods from the espresso maker and did a 2 hour steep rewash on them. 12 days worth of used pods and got NOTHING from the rewash. This thing extracts every little bit of flavor from your pods and it does it in 10-15mins start to finish. If you are a tea drinker, you MUST give this little miracle a try!

Humans have been ingesting opium and poppy pods for ten thousand years at least, if the other alkaloids caused liver damage it would be well known.
