I came home from overseas in 1972 with an amphetamine addiction. My duties often required very long periods of being awake and more importantly, being alert and focused. Our squad was provided with "vitamin pills" which helped us stay awake for days and days at a time.
After I came home they continued to supply me with the vitamins but after a couple of years they cut me off. I resorted to street drugs.
After the War on Drugs was declared, it started to get difficult to stay supplied so I started doing some research. As a result, I have been making my own crank for years now.
I don't give it away. I don't sell it or share it. Only one other person knows about it and we collaborate on the production.
I have done crank every single day for the past 40 years with the exception of one 11 year hiatus.
I have been a productive, responsible member of society for over 40 years. I pay taxes and until my retirement, have never been unemployed or required financial assistance from government social programs.
I have raised five kids, put two of them through college and have buried two of them(not a recommended experience).
According to current laws, I am a criminal. I admit to breaking the law. I will not admit to a crime because no one has been hurt. A crime requires a victim. All I have done is exercise my God given right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States.
Can someone please explain to me why I should be placed in jail?

I really enjoyed your rant to be honest, I think all drugs should be decriminalized, it would help with addiction and harm reduction.
